Which bike?

My son rides a KX85 and we've been hitting the local track every weekend. I'd like to pick up a bike for myself that I can take on the track. Maybe do some local races as I improve.

Background:
45 years old
6'5"
200 lbs
Grew up riding dirt bikes until my teens. Had to give it up when we moved.
Currently ride a 250 dual sport. Mainly street ride with some occasional offroad.

I've been looking at the YZ250F and KX250F. Also was considering the YZ250FX but don't know if that would be the best choice for mainly track riding. Plus I have the dual sport if I want to trail ride.

Any suggestions would help. Thanks!

Just get a nice yz250... you'll be able to use the same gas-mix. One gas can, easy repairs as well as easily ridden in any situation. This bike will be a blast for you in my opinion. As mentioned, ad nauseum, a FMF fatty pipe and 8oz or so flywheel weight will settle down any 'pipe hit' you may be concerned with.

Not a bad idea at all. Never really considered picking up another 2 stroke but it makes sense. Thanks again!
