When should i buy an tune-exhaust to my 2stroke?

Edited Date/Time 1/18/2015 9:44pm
Hey everyone! I have been riding motocross for about half a year now and i have progressed a lot during this season. More than i though, medium to big jumps are no problem anymore (yayyy). But i have a question about tuning exhaust and when it's appropriate to get one for my KTM 125sx -13. And do i have to change any carburetor-settings?

Right now, my exhaust has a big dent on the side, in line with the footbrake to be exact, and about 2cm deep and 5x5 height and width. So i was thinking if i should get an FMF Pro Curcuit with an FMF silencer of some sort. But is it/will it be good or bad for me? Because i feel like i can give my bike 100% throttle most of the time on the track, but sometimes not. What do you guys recommend for me to do? I'll be more than happy if you give me advice on why/why not i should get one and in that case which exhaust with a little bit of motivation Smile

If it helps, i ride at tracks with a mix of jumps and corners. (Not super cross tracks)

Thank you so much in advance,
Sebastian

An FMF GNARLY expansion chamber is supposed to give you more bottom to mid-range power where as the FMF FATTY expansion chamber is supposed to give you more mid to top-end power, what the exhaust setup will do is broaden you're power curve and give you better/ more crisp throttle response and mostly it depends on where you want to broaden you're power curve, match either one with a FMF SHORTY silencer. You may have to change your jetting one way or another. There is a lot of ktm guys on here (some are experts I would say) that could give u a better response to setting that particular bike up with exhaust and jetting.

If your riding or racing a 125 two stroke you should try to become a specialist on jetting, makes such a big difference.
For one the KTM power valve springs on your bike are easy to change and make a huge difference.
Also a jetting kit from someone such as JD jetting, will give you lots of advice and options.

FMF only offers a Fatty and Factory Fatty for the KTM 125 according to their website.

Get a Pro Circuit pipe and silencer, and follow the jetting guides for your area.

I've always like pro circuits on 125s with a shorty silencer. You're probably going to have to go richer on the main and maybe a needle clip move depending on your altitude.
