What used 250F for returning vet rider?

I would say almost any 250f in that year range would be good. It comes down to condition of the bikes you find and what price you can get them at. The Yamaha wont have fuel injection until the 14 model but if you are just going to ride for fun most of the time and can live with out it, the yz250f is a solid bike that shouldn't give you too much trouble maintenance wise. I have a 12 kx250f that has more than enough power stock and if pretty great to ride. The crf250 isn't a bad choice either in my mind. Honestly any brand would be solid. I would see if you could ride a few and see which one you are most comfortable on.

The most reliable in stock form would be the 08' + YZ250F. I have an 09' YZ250F and an 07 CRF450 and I weigh 10LBS more than you. I found the YZ useable with only 1 size stiffer springs and stock suspension. The CRF is slightly easier to work on. The KX250F's I've ridden had a stronger motor, but needed valve shimming from time to time.

Save the hassle of a used 250f, find a new leftover model 13/14, killer deals now. You will thank me later lol.

^^^ this would be a fun bike for you i bet!
but if youre set on the 250f for some reason, are looking for a used one, and have no color preference, go with whatever one you find that is the best maintained with the fewest hours. In my opinion, those 2 factors should be your priority. it will save you hassles and coin. All bikes wear, and no bike is safe from neglect.

Buy the one that says 450. With your past you won't be happy with the 250.
Sure you will be art first, but you'll wear it out fast while the 450 will give
hours and hours of service.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

My brother recently picked up a 14 350SX. (I am Jack's seething jealousy) Hopefully after harvest I will get a chance to give it a rip and see if that fits the bill. If not, I may look into a used 450 just for the factor of less wear and tear on the motor.

Thanks again.

As stated I'd also consider a used or leftover 450. The 2013 and newer KX450 is a great bike if it fits you/the size compliments your riding style. But if a 250F and its maintenance are your sort of thing I'd consider the 2014 YZ250F.

I would do what mxb2 said - try and find a new one left over 13/14. You could get a smokin deal. Any of the 250Fs would be good, depending on their condition, my personal choice would be an RMZ 250.
