I'm getting ready for this season. I've got my bike nearly running. So I want to grab some add-on's to it. I got a fender bag and want some hand guards. Where I live and will be riding it's all narrow trails and such. I don't want to smash my hand or something so I want some hand guards. When I was on Ebay I was looking at a few but not all had a metal bar part. Do the ones without the bar still protect you or no. Also what company is best for these?

Try answer or msr or moose racing.

The metal ones are generally called bark busters. They are good if you are off road and trail riding. Kinda sketchy if you are riding tracks. They do save your hands if you bash trees in the woods and will save your levers...

You mentioned you were riding trails, make sure you get bark busters, or "the one with the metal bar part" . Breaking a lever in the bush is a pain in the ass.

get the ones that you have to drill into your handle bar ends so they go around the and have two contact/mounting points. you will have a tough time breaking them.

Definitely go with bark busters, as the other guys have said, where it's got the metal bar and the plastic brush knocker around it. I've always run Acerbis for my bark busters but Moose is good too. Definitely worth having a set of those over broken levers/fingers
