What about going 1 tooth bigger in the back and riding 3rd + 4th instead of going down to 2nd?

A 14t front is pretty big for track...

Sometimes right now I would have to go around a corner in 3rd then shift right into 4th. So I would have to ride 4th through the corner and stay in 4th with a taller rear gear. Also front sprockets are cheap and easy to replace and I am no where near fast so whatever I do probably won't make me faster. So I wasn't wanting to spend 70 bucks. With the 14 front sprocket I was thinking I would be able to stay in 3rd throughout a corner and keep onto 3rd for a while. But what do i know haha
