Hey guys, new rider here and loving every damn bit of it. Now Im pretty decent on a bike, but I know practice and repetition always makes perfect. My question is when I get to the local MX track I get so nervous and tense it kills my zone. I see everyone way above my level and I am cool with that I am only just beginning but Im scared to get on the track for fear of someone landing one me. I know it sound weird but I am ok with getting stuffed or pasted, roosted and embarrassed. I just get nervous that I am going to hold them up and or get squashed. What is track etiquette for a beginner??
Not sure where you ride but chat it up with the guys you park next to, 99% of them will give you some good advice and help you get on the way.
Everyone wants to be safe out there and helping younger riders or new riders is a great start.
I'm writing all of this because I remeber when I first went to a track and had no clue on the etiquette or safe way to ride and wish someone gave me advice.

Have fun.
As far as jumps go, take it easy, get a little air if you are comfortable, and get used to jumping before trying it on the track. You're allowed to just roll over the lip of the jump and keep it on the ground.
Have fun!

To sum up:
Stay in your line.
When a faster rider comes up on you, don't do anything but stay in your line. They will go around you. You switch lines when they are going in for a pass, there is a good chance you will be hit.
Bronwyn's advice about jumping is good advice. So is Joe's.
KMC suggests taking time to watch faster riders - also great advice. Talk to them as well.
As others said, have fun. We were all slow beginners at one time. Forget what others think and just have fun and do your best to learn.
