So I'm installing my first air filter cage on my rm 125, and I want to make sure I'm going about it the right way. I'm removing the rear tire before installing along with the number plates, and exshaut. Am I doing this right? If you guys have any suggestions for me please feel free to school the noob haha!

You shouldn't have to take anything but the seat off to do your filter and cage....

Anything you take apart, make sure it goes back together the same Wink .

What the reasoning behind putting a cage in it.

So maybe I'm calling it the wrong thing, I know the cage holds the actual filter it's self. I was referring to the box it's self, the piece that the mud flap attachs too. What's the best way to install that?

Ok, so now we've gotten to the bottom of this...
That is called the 'air box'.
Pretty sure a 99' RM125 will have to be done like this:

1)Remove the seat.
2)Remove the sidepanels
3)Remove the rear fender.
3)Remove the silencer (muffler)
4)Loosen the carburetor to airbox joint.
5)Remove the lower subframe bolts (2)
6)Remove the upper subframe bolt (and nut if there is one)
7)Remove the subframe assembly from the bike
8)Remove the screws that fasten the airbox to the subframe
9)Remove the Airbox

Reverse procedure to install the new one.

What is wrong with the airbox that is on it?

This is a great help I really appreciate it man! And I brought the bike used, and it was missing the air box when I purchased it.

Make sure you've got the rubber boot, and cage holder that goes between the airbox and the carburetor also.
Here's a diagram:

Do yourself a favor and get a Suzuki shop manual for that bike.
