Gas Cap replacement

I have seen that sometimes find a nice cap that perfectly fits your tank is a hard task and I think it is due to the lack of the information in the overall dimensions and thread size of the cap.

Do you have any idea where to get this info to make sure you are buying the right fitment for your tank?
