Hey guys,

Looking to pick up a bike for my brothers to ride and my girlfriend. I know everyone says TTRs/WRs/CRFs but I'd rather not have a small cc trail bike in the garage. I looked at an 85 as I'm a 2 stroke guy but figured I'd be changing plugs all the time, etc. with a new rider. I found a deal on a clean crf150r for $1500 and was seriously considering picking it up as even if it might be a bit more difficult to learn on at first it would be also something to grow into. Thoughts?

I think those bikes suck. They handle like a wheelbarrow and the power is not smooth.. . Best bike ever for a beginner is a xr 100 and you can find a good one for like 600 bucks.... An 85 would hurt a beginner as well just because they hit so hard and want to wheelie with a full size person on one. But this is just my opinion.

If it was me I'd rather start them on a 100 field bike than an 85, particularly if they're just going to ride now and again and not plan on racing in the near future. I feel that they're much easier to grasp...although not as quick they won't potentially scare your girlfriend or brothers off like an 85 may do. They may be easy for us guys to ride but they are still hard hitting for a complete beginner.
