So I'm a 6'2" 15 year old at about 230 lbs. (yeah I can lose the extra 40 lbs. I'm workin on it) so I'm a big @$$ dude. I really want to get in mx racing by the time I'm 16. Yes I have ridden both the 450 (it was a 2005 Honda crf450) and I've rode a 225 ('04 or '06 Yamaha ttr225) so not that far from a 250. I think a 250 would be my best chance into getting in mx fast to learn but, how bad does a 450 really dance around and get out of control. I can adapt to any fast I'm an extremely fast learner and can do anything I put my mind to. Thanks for readin ya'll

I had a CRF230r and I got on my dads 2006 450 and that was actually pretty frightening considering I was also only 15 and I only weigh 145 pounds, and am 5'11" but I got a 2004 CRF250x now and I love it, I wish it was faster and had more power but since you are bigger then I am I would recommend at least scheduling a test ride for both. But if you can't I would look at getting a crf250r for racing, I would recommend also doing some extreme workout program to lose a few extra pounds!

I was thinkin a 250 or 250 2 stroke to start, probably the 2 stroke because I want the extra power. I was thinkin 450 as well because how fast will I grow out of 250's? Only thing I don't like about 450s is they have to much horsepower that you really do use all of it. But thanks for the suggestion bro. (OUT OF CURIOUSTY: what exercise program do you use? I use to do naval exercises in sea cadets I just never got thin there, only gain more strength.)

I do P90X now, I used to just run and weightlifting. Also you may get sick of 250 quickly or you may love it for a life time, it's really a personally preference.

I've rode for a while and 4 strokes are great! but whats the deal with 2 strokes? Is it a huge difference in handling? And in your opinion a 4 stroke 250, or the 450?

I think a 250, they're way lighter than a 450. And you can get used to it more and ride it more without getting tired, with the 450 you'll have arm pump after just a few laps lol.
