CR125R slow? compared to your XR200? No way.. Keep that thing on the pipe and they rip. My sons is mostly stock except a pipe and that thing is fun through the woods. They're so light and nimble it's awesome. You just have to learn to use the clutch and keep it on the sweet spot. My sons bike below.

Given what you are riding now, it is going to feel like a rocket ship. Go for it! And just because it is slower than the other 125s of that year doesn't mean it can't give you good lap times and be a solid beginner race machine.
