The worst part about riding a quad, is telling your mom and dad you're gay.

11/4/2009 3:22 PM Doug "The Sweeper" Hoover from Ontario, managed to be one of only a few to straight up beat Rollerball when he won the '85 125 title. Hoover was a guy that probably retired too early but there really wasn't much money in it. He was also USA national #72 one year.
Couldn't you get one of him "sweeping" a berm instead of that one? Jerk. "Matthes......funny like 4 seasons ago and now irrelevant in the pits.
No one under 30 with a National point is willing to talk to him these days. The observations became opinions and now he's fucked in the paddock." |

11/4/2009 7:24 PM There was a huge, peaked double jump, just before this that all the top 250 riders were just clearing, and if I remember correctly, Hoover came up a little short, bounced off the top, swapped, and the end result is what you see here. Have pics of Bailey and RJ styling off of it. I'll have to dig them up.................

11/4/2009 10:45 PM When asked, Pederson claims that Doug Hoover was his toughest competitor[all time]. Doug had a killer riding style, I saw it numerous times,

11/5/2009 11:21 AM You know I really do not know how Hoover beat Pederson for that 125 plate in 86 Bike problems etc. Ross speaks highly of him on the pod cast.
I helped John Scott out at some races in Ontario in the 125 pro class in 82 and Hoover was not a front runner he always seamed to be around 5th. Rob Hodgson , Alan Logue , Dennis James would serve him his ass on a platter week after week. John Scott ran about the same results wise. And when Pederson or Zoli JR were around they would finish ahead of Hoover. |

11/5/2009 2:37 PM In Canada, Hoover made Esso Easy mix (Pre mix oil) a household name.. well, in MX households..
I got to watch Hoover race locally quite a bit, mostly at Motopark in Chatsworth ON. I don't think I ever saw him lose there.. |

11/5/2009 2:50 PM chase383. Rob Hodgson quite racing about 85 . Logue cracked a vertabre in his neck in 83 so went to wrench for Pederson. Dennis James got injured and Scott quit to go to school. A lot of this sport is timeing. Straight up I never seen him win a race up to 85 when I packed it in. Always up there but no cigar.

11/5/2009 6:21 PM NC - I think my first year racing was 87.. so I would have missed seeing the guys you mentioned. The guys that stood out for me were Hoover, B. King, Wallin, Zecca, M. Burr.. Rob Bouluksky

11/6/2009 1:07 PM Chase . Road against King , Wallin and Zecca as Juniors. Zecca was a sixteen year old kid going through the pack bouncing off anything on two wheels.
