Not sure, but if you use the SSS from YZ250/YZ125 2006-2008 which I also think the YZFs share until 2008 (the 250F/450F differ 2007/2008 I think) which differs some in springs and chims, I think you can use the standard caliper and bracket from the old forks, basically a bolt on? Not sure about the tripple clamp though. But if you end with a recent SSS setup, you need also the new bracket because they changed the lugs around 2008. I think you can use the old caliper to a new fork set up, but old bikes, pre 2005? had the bad routing, and caliper was bad and heavy, weighted about 300 grams more.

I have a complete CRF caliper, brake line and housing for my 2006 YZ125 (SSS with old gen lugs) that went right in my bracket. I know a KXF caliper also work with the old brackets.

See what size your forks are compared to the newer KYB, same diameter, I assume your triple clamp works.

Do it. Do the shock too.

Yes, you will need the newer clamps. You will have to press your stem out and press it into the newer lower clamp. Don't listen to all the mumbo jumbo out there about how you need a 4 million pound press to do it. It came out like butter with my home 30 ton and when in just the same.

You may also need new spacers for your front wheel because the hub and the lower part of the fork leg changed on the newer models. I simply machine one of mine down.

You should take some careful measurements, The overall length of the fork is a different and since you are pressing in your stem the top clamp will be lower than it would on the other bike. In the end, you me just have to install them as close as you can to what height you think is right, ride it and move the fork up and down a couple of mm to find where you like them.

Get the shock too. The shaft is bigger and it raises the pressure in the shock faster as it enters the body.

You won't regret making this upgrade. My bike was a whole different motorcycle. I finally understood how guys could go through certain section at the speed they were doing it.

You will be blown away at the difference if you replace the fork and shock at the same time.

On edit: to DocSwede's point, you will need a new caliper and hose with the new routing.
The above was true for the conversion for a 125. I'm pretty sure that the 250 had the same boingers as the 125 in 2000 though

Like E-man says, do it! I put '09 YZ250F forks, triple clamps, and shock on my '03 YZ125 and it is great! I'm not sure on the brakes or front wheel fitment, I swapped everything.

I did the swap on my 02 YZ. The suspension was off an 07 YZ250. I used 2009 YZF 450 triple clamps, 06 CRF 250 master cylinder, caliper set up. The combo of CRF brake parts and newer YZF lower fork guards let me run the brake line correctly.

Afternoon guys,
I have a 2005 yz 125, looking to fit the triple clamps from a 2007 YZ450F to my existing 48mm forks ( so I can run fat bars)
Does anyone know if the 07 clamps will fit my 05 bike?
Many thanks for any help

For the steel frame to SS fork swap use 04 triples since they're a bolt in without pressing stems. I have SS on my 96. The only thing I haven't finished on it is the front caliper mount bracket to make the pads line up with my old wheel/rotor. Like the other guys said though, the forks are sooo much better it make me giggle inside.
