they are different. I think the SSS forks are 46MM while the 05 forks were 45.

you could probably make the 05 clamps work for the 06 fork legs, but I wouldn't do it the other way around.

I know the forks are the same size for sure. But mxa says the clamp is actually 2mm wider overall in '06 vs. '05 on the 125. I am not sure of this on the 250. Supposedly on the 125 the fork makes up the difference at the wheel clamping area so nothing is changed on the wheel, like the spacers or anything. Just simply 1mm on each side wider at the clamps. I need to know about the 250 though. THanks ahead of time!

Yes, same deal on the width with the 250. Clamps are spaced 2mm further apart from each other, and 1mm was added back into the width on the lower fork...so, same spacers are used. Many bikes out there where the owners just pulled it all together despite it being off.

OK, so applied and brp say the 06 and newer are definitely a wider spread than 05.

yes that is correct my clamp is for '06 and newer

04 & 05 clamps were the same. Forks were 48mm both years and same width apart. 04 used conventional open chamber forks, 05 used a first gen closed chamber. 06 and up clamps are the same, all SSS forks, all 48mm and same width apart which is 2mm different from the earlier forks. All of the width difference was made up in the fork lugs because the spacers did not change from 04 to current.

I replied to your email.

I know they fit YZ 250 two stroke '06 thru '14. Not sure on other models.

I'll call Applied and find out for sure if they fit other models.

Thanks,
MV

Some things you just know.....and often times this corresponds with lost money and wasted buys from ebay. Plus, I was a moderator on Thumpertalk....and we KNOW mods know everything....so, you caught me...I cant prove I KNOW, I just do. You wil too when you bolt together and notice it doe snot feel right.

Its not a big deal, though....One side is handled by the axle sliding one mm deeper into the assembly. Or hanging out...you'll see it. That leaves one mm, on the brake side, to deal with. The non brake side is sort-of a floating spacer...

Pretty much, if you use 06 forks in an 05 clamp, the "mounts" will end up two mm too close together. The 06 forks make up their spacing difference with an extra mm of material on the bottom...where the spacers touch....Obviously, 05 forks in 06 clamps will be off, but no one liked the 05 forks , anyway.

Shave 1mm from the brake side spacer, mark it, and call it good. It will work without shaving, but I THINK it might lead to bushing wear in the forks with them not being aligned properly???? Thats just a thought, so beware...

Plus, I have an 06 yz295 with the swingarm, hub, and brake caliper, from a 2009 yzf 450. I've done my share of fitting to this bike. The 09 back end is a great mod. Even someone at my low skill level knows the difference.

To be fair, I do ride a lot like James Stewart....the one from "Its a Wonderful life", not JS7.

06 is definitely wider. I made the mistake of buying a nice clamp on ebay that was supposed to fit an 06, tried to install them on my 06 and no go. Called the manufacturer with the number on the clamp and was told it was for an 05. Don't try to use 05s on an 06, it WILL mess your forks up.
