Buck Murphy was the first Penton guy at Trans Ams that I noticed.

Pat Richter from way up in Fortunate rode Penton before his Fox ride.

Earliest I can remember is early 80s with John Finkleday. I think that was a factory effort.

I think Finkleday and NorCal riders Schlag and Cantaloupi were the first FACTORY KTM riders.

Pretty sure by the time Richter rode them they were badged as KTM. I remember watching him at the Sears Point TransAm in I think '76 on those big white beasts. Not sure if it was a factory effort or shop based; Pacific Performance ring a bell? First time I saw Magoo he was on one also, putting on a clinic at E Street. Having a "Factory" ride in the 70's on a Euro brand could mean two bikes and a Ford Econoline, a far cry from today.

Mfowler, yes I agree. Magoo was on KTM the same tine at Pat Richter.

BobbyM, not sure how much cool stuff they may have gotten - factory links to distributor and all.
