Are all ktm using a gas spring on the shock or do some still use a coil spring.

What about jap bikes?

I think only Shorty is running the air shock, the rest of the KTM riders use the standard spring shock. And Im pretty sure none of the Jap brands use an air shock.

Do you mean air shock, a gas spring shock is pretty much the old stuff if you think on air or nitrogen as gas.Smile

That is correct, only Shorty is running ktm rear air suspension, he is their test mule as he would say. I guess Shorty really likes it. I think when it failed on Dungey before the start of the one supercross he now sticks with the conventional spring shock.

They must have ideas about production or they wouldn't mess with it.

It certainly seems to be working well for Short.. I was amazed at how well the "old man" was doing against the stacked field.

It is a WP air shock. I would expect to see more of them in the future. Probably on the production bikes soon enough.

They actually use air?

Looks like it would change pressure with temperature increase,I figured it would be an inert gas like N

But,thanks for the info vitards, best info on the interdweb by gosh.

78% of what you're breathing is nitrogen. The biggest expansion issues, as I understand it, are from the humidity in the air. That said, I would suspect they're running all nitrogen anyway.

I remember reading somewhere (MXA I think) that said WP's air shock has a valve that compensates for temperature change (bleeds it off into another chamber or something)
