Did anyone notice in the video of the Will Han crash. The guy in shorts a monster shirt and a helmet?

I did notice that. I didn't notice anyone else wearing helmets, did you?
Might be a new safety initiative, similar to NASCAR where all over the wall crew members and track workers wear helmets.

Yeah, they showed two track workers with helmets on during the coverage of the night show, when they were helping Malcolm Stewart after one of his crashes. Seems to be a new safety initiative.

Makes sense, but they should definitely make sure the helmets are for the application and not an off the shelf unit. Track workers will need maximum peripheral vision and hearing above that of a std mx helmet. Were they bicycle helmets? I did not see them

That guy has been wearing that for years now. He usually sprints to wherever there is a rider down and gets out on the track.

They are called Dig Dugs. They have become famous over the years. They put themselves on the line to get bikes off the track and to fix tuffblock placement to keep sponsors happy, I mean for rider safety....

With all the jest, they are good for the safety out there and they work very hard.

Can someone post the dig dug video from vegas last year?

My wife read what I was going to post, and called me a dick...

So I shortened it up to:

Yep! Makes sense!

They look like TLD NASCAR pit crew helmets to me. There are 3-4 guys out there on the track that wear them.

As I mentioned years ago, everyone near the hot track should be wearing helmets.

If it was my rear end out there I would be wearing upper body protection......seriously. Riders do occasionally spear track workers.

99% of us don't put that much heart into our work in a week, much less in 15 seconds like Dug up there is demonstrating.
That's a good point.

Great point.

Bummer it is easier for some to be critical than to offer positive feedback/recognize a person's contribution.

For the record. I was serious when I said looks fun how do I apply. I would enjoy doing that.
Same reason I flag at a local track as much as possible.
