I'm starting to lean towards Jimmy Button. Paralyzed from the neck down and came back to ride a bicycle 2500 miles . Did damn near half of it with a screwed together elbow. Donate here!!

Finished with a lap of Daytona and a trip to the podium.

Reed and Stewart should both be on that list. The crashes that both of them have taken and kept racing are pretty bad ass.

As with most of the threads concerning this topic, people will choose the toughest guy from "their era", or the toughest guy from the era they would like to be associated with. And then some guys will pick guys like Henry etc for overcoming horrible injuries, or guys like BRadshaw who were tough and never won, but didn´t give up.

I´m from the MC/Fro era so I have to pick whoever raced with the biggest hangover

Don't know what your criteria is, but this is another one where its hard to argue against Carmichael.

Won more than anyone ever. Hardly ever missed a race due to injury. Raced with blown out knees. Won nationals while shitting his guts out. Had some of the most violent crashes ever caught on film and would pop back up.

haha.... You meant food poisoning, right?? Ahh the good old 90's.

They are all bad asses. I would bet no one racing right now that has raced the full season is 100% and few have probably been at 100% in the last year or so.

Not to take anything away from the guys mentioned here especially Button, he is an animal.

But;
Doug Henry hands down.

Guy crushes his back and has to have a titantium cage put on it, told he may not be able to walk but even if he does he definitely is never going to race again.
Comes back just as good if not better.

Same track destroys both arms so badly he has to have a fan remove his goggles.
Comes back again.

Shows up at Southwick in a pick up with a bike in the back and holeshots against the factories.

Supermoto..crashes out and is told he will never walk again let alone ride.....
Well he is riding bikes and racing sno-cross and had been able to walk with assistance but still works towards walking again on his own.

That my friends is the definition of tough.

Rex Staten period.
Bull shit.
Rex Staten was the only Pro to come to Dunlap (Fresno) and complain about a little water crossing on the track.Even old Dick Mann just raced whatever we laid out.
Yes we had to take the water crossing out for Staten.

Giancarlo Fallappa. Look him up on Wikapedia. (what it doesn't say is just how much he smashed himself up before his carrer ending head injuries....). Absolutely fearless.

Any such list should properly include Gaylon Mosier. Dude was a machine and not someone to screw with. RIP GM.

I`ve seen Jimmy Wienert race with the worst case of "Food Poisoning" in the world. Looked like walking death until he got on the bike. Then proceeded to wax the field. Definitely one of a kind when it came to toughness.
