I have the chance to pick up a leftover thor force carbon helmet stupid cheap, but the only ones left in my size are the wrong color, anybody got advice on repainting it? Just sand the clearcoat and paint off and go from there?

You don't want to sand off the original paint. You just need to scuff the paint with a red scotch brite to give the surface some tooth for your paint to stick to. You want to be careful not to sand into the graphics that are already there as they are likely water based and not compatible with most paints you are likely to be using. To be sure, after sanding clean well and use a bonding enhancer/sealer. Good luck.

ever see those scotch brite pads? some are green, some are red... thats about all you need to scuff it with or youll probably end up going through the clear.
im sure newman will hit you up soon. he will have the master plan for you.

just sand the clear coat with some 800 (i would wet sand)

You dont need to take it down to the carbon fiber, just scuff the existing clear (it should be uniformly dull)

then paint it how you want. Clear coat it. done.
