he has been using fatbars for years but now he is using twinwalls.

yes totally ,i always ran twinwalls and tried the fatbar , couldnt gel with it at all and ended up switching back , and its not like im a pro lol

He may be using the new air triple clamps, no need for a fatbar or flex any longer.

I can tell by looking at the mounts that he is still running the solid mounts, not the air set.

It might not be a rigidity thing... could be it's a bend that is not available in the Fatbar. In which case you can cut the crossbar, sleeve it, and retain the Fatbar feel with a Twinwall bend.
