Anyone have tips on how to do it? Do you mention to the hotel staff that you will be bringing your bikes in? last thing I want is for my bikes to be stolen out of the back of my truck overnight.

Better off at a Motel, vs hotel unless its near a track and they cater to this, ground floor, with balcony or outside entry. If you can confirm with the front desk before booking it, great if not, better not to even ask, just try to do it on the down low. Clean the bikes, showroom clean, nothing will get you kicked faster than a dirty bike.

Get a room on the first floor close to the side door. Ask if any of the handicap rooms are reserved and if not try and get one of those, but mention you will gladly switch if needed. I have even seen some people ask the hotel if they can keep it in a conference room that is not being used that night and they've been able too, just make sure there isn't a spec of dirt that can fall off. I would still put a lock on the rotor or a bike lock around the frame through the rear wheel.

I used to do this with my streetbike. Just like everyone else said, ground floor preferrably in the back of the building.

I parked my R1 in my hotel room and woke up to people screaming and police outside; Everyones trucks had gotten broken into. I opened my hotel room door, started the bike, backed the bike out, shook my head, and peaced the fuck out.

ALWAYS bring your bikes into the room.

Ya, lower level motel. Take your gas cans into the bathroom n leave the fan on. Don't clean your air filter in the sink tho!

First floor, with a side entrance or sliding door and an extra kitchenette type of set up. No problem!

Ask for a first floor handicap room and bring them in from the side.

This was a few years ago but I've done it a lot. Like others have said make sure they have a side door. The best way is research hotels before you leave and look at pics of the hotel to see what kind of entrance they have and make reservations that way. If road tripping and you don't know where you're gonna stop I usually drive around until I see a hotel that looks easy to sneak it into. I have flat out asked before and they said no lol.

A lot of it depends where you are I think as well. I've done it in areas and towns that are more remote and nobody said anything but the closer you get to a big city, or the nicer the hotel is the more they seem to care.

A couple years ago in Daytona my buddy walked it through the pool area at night and right through the slider. Nobody knew till morning, at that point it didn't matter.

Motel 6 is almost always a safe bet. I've only seen one that had a hallway all others you entered the room from the parking lot. Plus they almost all have wood (fake) floors now so if you drop some oil or gas it wipes up easy.

One bonus that comes with being a traveling sales rep and driving a truck is you're able to look for deals on Craigslists wherever you go!! Scored this 1972 CT70H for stupid cheap outside of Columbia, SC. I walked right through the lobby with it, and the person at the front desk wasn't paying much attention since they were on the phone... but the bike was shorter than the check-in counter anyways, so from the attendants view; I was just a regular dude walking to my room. Nothing to see here! Snuck it out a side door the next morning

When we took my sons bike on the road with us I'd call for reservations and tell them I had a very severe fear of heights and enclosed places so I had to have a first floor room that opened outside.

I drove from San Diego to Princeton for graduate school. I smuggled my RM125 into every hotel room all the way across the country until Eastern PA. That last hotel had entry from the interior only and had cameras set up, so they caught me red handed wheeling the bike in (Oops!).

Ground floor, door to outside, do not ask! There's no way they'll tell you it's OK. Just make sure to leave no trace behind, and don't forget the "do not disturb" sign since you don't want them coming in and seeing it. Drapes closed...

Do yourself a favor and drain your tanks and leave the gas in truck/van/trailer. If gas fumes are smelled by anyone you are busted. Not to mention huffing gas fumes all night. I had a friend that passed out drunk in the trailer with 5 gallons of U2(?) in it when it first came out. He was sick for a long time. I would say it killed some brain cells but he was pretty low already.

What Is the country coming to ......I think a lot of thefts are generated from the front desk personnel tipping off their scumbum friends.....

This. I was paralyzed racing and every time we go to races I get screwed out of handicapped rooms because of idiots renting them that don't need them.
