As a total Dungey fan and supporter, regarding Ryan putting KR and the others behind him, pulling this championship out of the hat......it ain't gonna happen. Is it. :- (

Dungey is only 25 points down now. So the championship is very much within reach.

My Bad. He's 24 points down now. There are 8 motos left in the season. It ain't over, and Tomac is complicating things Smile .

Actually Tomac can help Dungey. If Dungey can muster up a win and Tomac can beat Kenny - that is 5 points he will make up. But he needs to beat Tomac.

Dungey has his work cut out for him. I'm not ready to count him out, but I think his tendency to lose time in the first two laps and take a long time to pass will cost him any opportunity at winning a championship in a talented field. He's basically depending on others falling away. He'll be on the podium most of the time, but he has to start beating his competition which is Roczen right now.

As a big RD fan myself, I think it will take some serious mistakes from KR. It's hard not to like KR though.

There are 8 motos left..... And he is 24 points back..... If Dungey wins every Moto from here on out they'll tie and the Dunge will take the title. That's assuming Roczen takes 2nd every time.... Which he couldn't muster today. Hopefully it tightens up a bit just for the suspense!!

More likely Tomac beats them all....which takes point differential away from RD is he manages to beat KR.

1st 25
2nd 22
3rd 20

If RD and KR went 1-2 the rest of the way....we have a tie

If If they go 2-3 the rest of the way...KR wins by 8.

If I had rank them three for moto wins for the remaining rounds it would be ET, KR, and then KR.

With that said, the only way RD wins the championship is if KR DNFs a moto. Even if he does I would give the edge to KR since they would pretty much be tied in points after a DNF.

Without a mechanical from KR, it's going to be tough. My impression is KR is going for the W when he feels good, is comfortable, and gets a good start. When he's not comfortable or doesn't get the best start, he manages the race and minimizes any impact in the championship points. He knows that there are 2 things that are going to throw this away for his championship: a crash and a mechanical. No sense in hanging things out so far he crashes, when all he has to do is avoid a mechanical or crash.

Right now, I see his biggest risk (and potential for RD to gain points) for the championship is on the starts. There's a lot of bad that can happen in a start and he has to avoid getting into trouble for 6 more starts, then manage the individual races and the championship is his.

For our sake as fans, I hope Canard, Tomac, and Dungey can make it interesting.

I hope so. I'd send him a light bulb, if it would help.

One KR DNF or bad crash where he doesn't score points is all the Dunge needs

KR can manage the title quite well from this point, so Dungey has to put the heat on hard to force an error. If not for the re-start today, Dungey could have made some more points on KR. He is within one moto now so there is still a legit chance.

It's still in reach for sure, one terrible race can mean cheers or tears for either guy. Gonna be a good 8 motos.

Every week that goes by that Dungey doesn't make a huge gain chances go down but it's not over by any stretch. If there was no Tomac and Canard I would say it's over barring a KR DNF but with them in it there could easily be a 12-14 point swing in one weekend. Game not over. I'm not saying I think anything would happen but given a choice would KTM rather have the number one plate next year on a KTM or a Suzuki?

With Tomac and canard in the mix and throw in Stewart for a surprise moto or two it could definitely happen. But dungey really needs to beat KR every moto from here on out for it to happen. Unless KR has an absolutely terrible moto of course. I'm pulling for dungey, but it's going to be very very tough.

As he should. It's only natural. But I think his current trainer will put an end to that.

I think Dungey is still in it for sure. As mentioned Roczen fades the second half of the season in the past. Who knows what he does with Aldon Baker running his program but his 4th today his worst moto score of the season. Is this a sign of more to come? One mechanical or big crash from Kenny is all it will take. The same can be said for Dungey but that dude doesnt have DNFs from crashing, only mechanical problems.

Heat and humidity are Dungey's friend and Roczens enemy. I hate to say it but the 2014 Motocross championship will be decided by the weather.

A few years ago, with one round remaining, Trey Canard WASN'T going to win the 250 outdoor championship........until he DID!
