Depends on how much you want to spend.

I know older kids (teens and young adults) that go on just a couple hundred dollars by riding with other people, staying with people, etc. And there are others that drop 10 large to go.

I remember the first 4 or 5 years at Ponca it looked like a tent city with a large number of people camping in tents and popup campers at the track and the hotels were all full in Ponca and Tonkawa and Blackwell, Now its a RV city and the Ponca Hotels fill up but some rooms are open. You can do it on a budget.

It was $60.00 per person (x4) for the entire week for gate fee. $40.00 to be able to have our car in the park. $80.00 per class for racing X 3 classes X 2 kids. $150.00 for a hookup fee for the RV for the week. $90.00 fee for camping. (If you don't have the hookup, you still have to pay the camp fee.) I think we spent around $100.00 on bottled water!!! That does not include the two races we had to qualify at. I think we easily spent $2,000.00 for the week when it was all said and done. Monster Races at Fairgrounds, trips to Walmart, trip to laundromat, etc..... Oh, kid getting hurt first day during practice and not being able to race the rest of the week... PRICELESS!!!

i think we did it for a couple years on around $2k coming from michigan. 1st year we did the motorhome camping thing...next year we did box van and hotel thing. our qualifiers were easy (area/regional all in one) because there wasn't but a handful of michigan riders going.

think gas was 1.25 a gallon back then tho...and that was the big cost. (1987/88/89). couldn't imagine what it costs now to do it like we did back then.

It's not cheap.

I have been out of the loop for many years now, but srellis post doesn't sound two far off.

It's top tier racing, so it could be looked at as an experience of a lifetime for your kid. Only you can decide if it's worth it or not.
