Hey everyone. kinda thinking about selling my 2014 yz450 and getting another 2 stroke! Rode my dads in the Caprock enduro in Turkey Texas. Got on my 450 the other day it just wasn't as fun! Still love my 450 but also love the thrill of a 2 stroke that you just can't get on a 4 stroke. Wanted to get your opinions on this. Will only be getting a 2013 or newer KTM 250 or a new husky tc250. Would buy a 300 head to be able to choose.

Should give you an idea of how many dudes have tried and realized they missed the 2 strokes. I think a lot of guys ( including me ) did not realize what we were missing out on , until we rode one again. First time I jumped on my RM 250 it was like a light bulb went off. I was riding and sitting there thinking " Holy shit....what the hell have I been missing out on? " .

So much fun , to the point of when I'm riding this summer , I'm going to be thinking real hard on weather or not I should sell my 450 Kawi and maybe get another 2 stroke to accompany my old RM. I guess I'll wait and see.

I believe riding a two stroke keeps the excitement in riding. A four stroke is easier to ride fast and smooth, but lacks the reward for being on your toes, and doing everything just right. Nail a fast lap on a four stroke... Yea.. Okay.. Cool. Nail a fast lap on a two stroke... Fuck yea! That's what I'm talkin about!!

The previous statement is my opinion based on what I've experienced.

If you are serious about it I would wait until the 2016 KTMs come out.

The current generation 250F's rev out to 14K RPM, have a broader powerband, you can ride them like a 2 stroke and never have to worry about premix.

I'm in the same boat. I'm the same size and hopped on my brother's 250f and thought, "Someone would actually spend 7k on this?" 450 or 300 two stroke all the way for me.

Seriously, who worries about premix? A 250sx is lighter, has 10% more HP, 50% more torque and 100% more fun factor than any 250f. And it's cheaper.

Guess this is what having kids is for. I get to hop on my sons 125 every time we go to the track and burn a few laps to get my two-stroke fix. Then I go hop back on my ole hog(450) and jump a bunch of shit. Even when he is done with the 125 I will keep it just for this reason.

I traded my new ktm 4 stroke in after year and got the 300XC, never looked back or regret it. Beside all the fun factor, I've enjoyed the lower noise note to for long time riding. I swear I lost hearing in my right ear over the years from my thumpers. And I just discovered that my local ama races have a 2 stroke only class. Looks like I will be racing again soon.

This and actually the 2 smoker is an old one of mine (2001 YZ125). I also have a 1986 RMZ125. These bikes are difinitely fun, but I'm loving my new YZ250F. Everyone is different, but overall I'm sticking with the 4's and this is coming from someone that cut his teeth on 2's.

Believe me. I understand that. I kept two old one's and just rebuild them when necessary. Just did a complete rebuild on the 2001 YZ with a pipe upgrade.

This! Waiting for my four stroke to show up. Hopefully soon!

And then I'll have both worlds to play with.

Our private track is mostly four strokes but everyone gets all giddy when a 2 stroke is out there. I miss holding it on like a light switch on my old 125. Maybe someday again

I'm thinking about selling my 2 stroke boat motor and getting a quitter, less smoking, more reliable and easier to start 4 stroke one. Wink

Post a reply to: maybe selling bike.
