Dude I agree! Don't get me wrong, it was great to give the kids exposure. But shit! That crash was gnarly

Is it just me or were the kids in the mini classes in the 80's alot faster? Guys like Kehoe, Holland, Brooks, Healey, Brown, Lewis. Ok maybe that was late 70's but those kids hauled. They would be just as fast as the 125 pros...

NOOOO!!! Been riding since the seventies myself and I live near St Louis and have personnally seen Forkner, Stack and Sexton ride and they haul the mail. TV equals no justice, much faster now than back in the day. MUCH FASTER!!!!!!
I enjoyed watching the kids ride the whole track, they have the option to not jump just like anyone else. This sport is getting too pansy-fied anyway. Glad to see the kids let loose to show everyone what they got. Doesn;t seem to be to big of a problem when the winner, who is barely 5 foot, throw a 1 hand whip over the biggest jump on the track. I've also seen Crown, #35 hit the uphill triple, after the Chad-a-pult at Millville on a 65.

I thought the super minis were the best motos... I was whooping and holering... I thought they did great!!!
Never try to argue with idiots; they will only bring you down to their level.....and being more experienced, they will beat you at their own game!

I hate it when I hear people say they have the option to jump or not to jump. If you are in that league, you need to do whatever is put in front of you.
I thought those kids were amazing but I don't like seeing some of the gnarly crashes they had. RC said it himself, he didn't think of those little guys when he designed the track.

So if they built a 150' finish line jump you would expect them to jump it. How about if it rained? You may need to reconsider your "whatever is put in front of you" comment.
Racing is who finishes first.
To finsih first, first you must finish.
In that traffic it would have been wised to roll the jump to set back up for a future charge, a la Chase Sexton #486, instead of trying to banzai the jump and crash, a la Miller #53. Seems Sextons approached worked out a little better.

I 100% agree with you Bobby. Way too big! I remember when we raced on supercross tracks they'd put a couple whoops or a roller in front of the triples--which were smaller than those jumps today--to keep us from hucking them. I don't doubt the kids abilities at all and they put on a hell of a show, but if I was a dad of a kid in that class I could not watch.

Hey, as long as they have an energy drink logo on the helmet it's good publicity, right?

All those kids were invited to race, they could have stayed home. They gave them a chance to shine and everyone is whining on what sand is in who's clit. They are not going to change the track in between mains so the kids can be safe.
Here is the track, here is your invite, race if you want or spectate. Really pretty simple.

I was honestly surprised that none of them were tripling the triple by the grandstands...

Maybe my generation just seemed gnarlier.

Sandbagging is fun dude. Feel like you missed out on some trophies growing up? Just wait a couple years and drop back down and own the begginer class

pass that shit on. It's a tradition in moto lol.

It's too much of a liability to have minis out there on live tv. Live coverage of one of them being taken out on a stretcher would damage the sport. The kids do not have a choice. Any one of them offered a chance to be in mec would jump at it.

I also thought we'd see at least 1 or 2 of them huck the big triple. I enjoyed their motos, very entertaining, but I've never been a huge fan of SX stuff with steep landings (personal opinion). I think old school outdoor stuff is the best overall test. However, I understand SX's place in racing and that it brings a lot of exposure and $$$ to the sport.
Maybe, if they are going to have the kids out there, they should use big tabletops to avoid the crash like last night. Casing is one thing, but to come up that short into the bottom of the face? Just thinking out loud.

it's you.
This is a classic case of watching something on TV and thinking it looks easier. If you walked the track and saw what these kids are jumping and the speeds they are going. Your opinion would be different.
Think about it like this, back in those days, the PRO's were not even doing jumps as big as last nights.
Emig and arguably the fastest mini rider ever RC even stated tat the kids of today are insanely faster then those before them.

Haha 250 novice! I was a big kid. If you can get on a bigger bike you should. To be fair I was jealous of my buds who got to ride 125 Youth, that was the class for up and comers

I agree that it is a little danderous for the little fellers, but damn, that was some good racing right there. They should incorporate some mini racing/amateur racing into MX/SX in the regular season.

I believe it was a rule to not do the triple. The finish was just as big.
Back in 99' Shae Bentley was doing a press day at a SX with a local news affiliate and teaching a news anchor how to ride. She was on a supermini. He then took the Supermini and jumped the triple. that was a bone stock Supermini, so I am sure a race trim Supermini could easily get over it.

Best race in Moncton (Canadian MX) this year was the super-minis. Coulda thrown a face cloth over the top 3 in the last turn, no follow the leader shit, peeking order in that class. I can't believe what the kids can do on bikes that mostly get BNG's every year.
Kids are molded |(and forced) to do great things in sports at such a young age it is unreal. I see kids playing Midget C who would have been Midget AAA hockey superstars fifteen years ago.
I do think it is a little crazy to go from a super mini to a 250F, that men (and some fast girls) ride in one quantum leap. The weight and inertia are from two different zip codes. Especially if you weigh 95 lbs soaking wet.
I do agree with the stretcher comment though, that would be a total bummer for all involved.
JS7 is the most entertaining rider since Hannah, my first hero,. even living in the frozen north.
Oh yeah, I actually ride!
