Hillbilly, how did u get to be a speedway fan. I grew up in So Cal and was a frequent spectator. Sometimes 3 nights a week. Moved to TN 21 yrs ago and have never seen any mention of it out here.

Ascot, Costa Mesa or Ventura ?
I grew up going on Tuesday nights in Ventura. 1976-'80. I still hit Costa Mesa once or twice a year just to smell the fumes. I've became friends with several of the guys from back then and have met most of them at one time or another.
If my balls were bigger, I'd give it a try myself..... Lol

I did a lot of flatrack in mid 70s. Would easily do that instead of moto but it just went away here.

Would watch speedway each year at bike week in Daytona at the high school track and just salivate at the chance.

Like I've posted before ,it is then purest form of motorcycle racing,4 riders 4 laps, can't take them out or you get dqed and more power than needed with no brakes and no need for super human fitness.

They stream them free .

Greg Hancock is leading points by about 8 at 45 yrs old.

Costa Mesa on Fridays. San Bernardino I think on Thursdays (maybe Wed). Ascot for a little then Glen Helen. Seems like I'm missing somewhere. Alway 1 or 2 long track races either at the big track at Ascot or Long Beach.

Cool. Yea, always wanted to do it. For a minute there, 3 of us MX guys alway went in on a bike and would take turns........beer, girls, work, and life got in The way.

A fee years ago I had Ditect TV and there was a channel that aired all of these races from Europe, mainly Sweden, Finland, Denmark and others. There is a winter series also which is even more insane. 3" spikes, huge fenders and suits of armor to protect the riders from bring turned to Swiss cheese. Crazy stuff.

The shop i hung around at 12 to 15 yrs old had 3 brothers ,dad owned the shop. The youngest was a few years older than me and took me everywhere they went.

Into flatrack they each had a 750 Yamaha and various 2 str short track bikes.

They sold Honda and Yamaha so I got to thrash anything that came out from 74 till 78ish.

The youngest got into mx much more than the older 2 so we went all over.

But,the most exciting bike that i rode then would be a bultaco astro 360. They ran it on blenzall and some fuel that had a smell like poppies crossed with roses. Right side shift with compression release for a brake. The thing would dig.

Good times

Man thank you for not putting a spoiler in your title cause I knew what this thread was gonna be but I hadn't watched the GP yet but just finished and fucken fuck yeah how good was that race!! Plus like Doyle said 3 Aussies on the podium haha
The semis were good shit too

I've got a bit of a soft spot for Doyle he acts like and looks almost exactly like a best mate of mine that we lost to a brain aneurysm in 2012.. So it's like seeing Basso up there living the dream fucken rules
