I was shoping at Chaparral recently and had them mount a set of tires for me.
I was bretty bummed out when they brought them out looking like this.
What would you guys do if it were you? These wheels only had 2 sets of tires on them previously and were great shape.

Looks like they used a tire machine, from my 1 and only experience, it will fuck them up right proper like. Ask them how they mounted them? If they say with a machine then pounce on them. Those scratches look like they are from the guide with out the teflon protector installed.

Yes thats is exactly what happened.
That day alone I spent over $700 there. I prob spend atleast 2k a year from them and have been shoping there for the last 20 years. At first I didnt want to complain...not my style but after a couple buddys seen them in my garrage there were like thats BS.
So I called and asked the manager to do something...I explained that I was a long time customer and i would appriciate some kind of compinsation. They blew me off and basically said your screwed we dont care!

Always pay with a credit card. Than u can dispute it. I pay for everything with plastic.you have to be diciplined and put the cash on the side. U have no disputing power if u pay cash. If they where mine , chaparal would be replacing them . No way would i accept that

I think you probably blew it leaving the store before you brought it to anyones attention. They would think you screwed it up and tried to blame them. Not all tire machines do that. Mike Farmer who is a Maxxis rep has a machine that doesn't touch the rim. He did about 3 sets for me while I waited and watched.

Did you say something when you were picking them up? I would not have took them home looking like that.
Since you took them home, they will most likely deny they did it.

Black sharpie will now be your best bet.

I did say something when I was there but they didnt offer anything so I left. It took a bit of looking at them before I decided to call the manager. I took them back in person.

Sharpie wont hide those gouges, man that is terrible.

I go there to get odds and ends sometimes, but Ive seen their tire dept. employees, I sure would not use them.

Cycle Gear has better prices and will change them for you on the spot while you watch.

What amazes me is clearly your a good customer, who's not afraid to drop some C notes. It's one thing to butch your black rims then another to not acknowledge it. Not to mention all the people on here that may think twice about the service department there now. Any good biz manager would have comp'd you something. Even if just a free tire it will likely cost them thousands now of lost biz. I bet you just didn't go high enough in the food chain over there? Call them again in a day or 2 and see what happens I bet someone reading this works there and knows "the cool people".

I think posting on sites like this one are one of the best things you can do actually. Who on this board will get tires mounted there anytime soon? Nobody! So you've probably stuck it to them to some degree already.

As for my opinion, I don't think you could expect them to give you a new set of wheels. I mean, what'd they charge you for mounting, $20 bucks? You can't really expect them to give you a new set of $700+ rims for that. BUT, I think they probably owe you some free labor at the very least. Like free mounting for the next 2 years or something to show their gratitude for you being a 20+ year customer and to prove to you that they won't let that happen again. Just my 2 cents...

I would definitely expect some new rims after that, i would have never left the store till it was cleared up. Say you have spent 2-4 grand on some rims for your truck or car, took it in to get new rubber, only to have your rims all scrattched to hell. They better replace the damaged items, their insurance can cover it. You go their because it supposed to be a professional shop, not one of your buddy's changing your tires in the back yard...
