EDIT: Hmm, nevermind. I'm not sure why I thought he had had that number for a while.
For instance all 25 of Topher Ingalls points came from the West Coast SX, under the old system he wouldn't get a 2 digit number as he went to Canada to race this summer. Dean Wilson only shown 204 Outdoor points and 47 450sx points, etc...

I don't think that we have career numbers over here in Australia, although I don't know the rule book inside out, but I'm sure you can only claim a number if you finish inside the top 100 of the national championship. if you don't want to claim it you get first dibs on your previous number from the last season so long as you renew your licence before the new year, if you fail in doing this you get issued a new number.
Not 100% on this but I got it from somewhere, unless i made it up...
7 duece duece is a perfect example as said above.
