What was the cause of Herling's crash?

Only heard his team mate apologize for touching his wheel and causing him to crash....

Maybe it was just that Jonass simply "touched" Herlings....

BUT, MAYBE it was "THE SCRUB" which is what caused the USA to loose the MXDN in Germany

Tomac Scrub Crash

I imagine it would be silly to try and ban "how riders ride" but why can't the riders understand the risks of this move and at least refrain from using it while other riders are nearby, if they want to do like Tomac in Germany and risk crashing all by themselves, I think we have to allow that, but to endanger others nearby......??..... That could have been a HUGE mess that first moto, could have taken out a lot of riders and broken bones and ruined the excitement of the racing for the rest of the season.

GREAT Race in Argentina !!!

I swear this forum gets less intelligent every time I get on here. It's motocross. People crash.

Scrubbing looks like it would cause more fatigue and risk of crashing than whatever millionth of a second it would save in a lot of cases. I think its become habit more than necessary in a lot of cases.

LOL

Since doubles are dangerous, we should ban them. Actually we should ban jumps altogether, well dirt bikes are dangerous, they should ban those too. You know what, lets just sit at home in a bubble and not do anything that can result in harm.

Scrubs aren't the issue here, natural progression and competitiveness is, and that will always stay there.

I'd like to see the first turn banned.
Tracks should go right from the start to the second turn......less dangerous.

I don't think I've ever seen Max Nagl scrub any jump ever.

Well maybe if you'd quit coming here we'd get less stupider.

Me neither, he's pretty much the antithesis of that expressive style of riding.

And I don't think either Tomac or Herlings crashes were caused by scrubbing.

I think we should just send all 20 riders out one at a time. Whoever sets the fastest lap wins the night since the fastest lap always determines the fastest racer in any situation.

Also if they start going to fast, maybe we can yellow flag them to slow them down.

Disk brakes work to good and allow to much corner speed. We should go back to drum brakes.

Ryan you set yourself up for that one lol. But I agree banning scrubbing is definitely not needed.

I'd move the holeshot up to like 30ft from the gate that way people wouldn't race so hard into that second corner.

How can you even ban a scrub? Have marshals all around the track with black flags looking for scrubs? That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while.

Just ban the bikes. Have the riders run around the track 20 times. That would separate the men from the boys AND be safer. Problems solved.

Ban anything past halF-throttle. HFO is the new WFO.

I'm also moving this to the appropriate area.

after posting this and then reading over some of the replies, maybe I should have just said "whip style move" instead of using the term scrub. My point was to point out that it is silly for a rider to whip his bike out into the path of another bike. Like one guy mentioned, this whipping move may save 1/00000 of a second but it sure increased the chance of touching another rider and causing an unnecessary injury and this is what I think happened to Herlings

And MX45 has a point, MX is dangerous enough, have you all not been noticing all the talk recently about the danger in MX? Why increase the odds of a crash by doing a silly whip/scrub move like those you see in the above three videos , just keep the bike straight like Max Nagl and concentrate on getting to the finish like first instead of impressing some fans.

Post a reply to: ban the scrub ?
