I think there was a little bit of this via Instagram last week, but here's a better look.

Like I said on the photo, I kinda would have expected with it going all the way round the engine they could pull the pipe in a little more, still sticks out a mile!!!!

Wonder if they thought of running it in front of the frame spar to try throw some weight forward on that thing? Maybe use the space left behind there to make the electrics more accessible...

Cheers,

Crush

Why don't they just turn the motor around and be done with it?

It sticks out a mile in the you-can't-make-everyone-happy, Yamaha-hater, and you-can't-buy-one-anyway section of it.

O cool , is that a built in sparkplug caddy on the head pipe , so trick , they think of everything.

Past the number plate... Seems like going that far around the engine it could be brought forward a bit...

Guy you need to stop picking people's posts... what we're not allowed to comment on something?!

In that pic he's running the normal tornado set up, not the new wrap around arrangement. The muffler is brought in further than in that photo, thats at the "original" tornado muffler length

A little off topic but I'm digging that One Industries Color combo

Keep the 2-stroke alive.

It's apparently a new design from Yamaha

They are coming to grips that it was a flawed design? Wrapping it all the way around the watercooled cylinder is going to help? Get back to me when it hit 196 lbs. wet/no fuel and the exhaust tucks in properly.

This^^^
I forget why they turned it around in the first place.

If I had me one of them I'd be showing it off right now too.

Too much mass. Had to centralize it!!

and now they are trying to move the exhaust forward, makes sense...

The new Honda 450 puzzles me. Bike mfgs are always trying to balance the bikes yet they take two pounds off with air forks up front and add four(?) out back with dual exhaust?? Waiting on MXA to tell us how this affects the pitch, roll and yaw....

You said it, puzzling!

So they have this ultra lightweight titanium exhaust to SAVE on weight, then make the headpipe wrap around the engine to ADD more weight. They reversed the engine to CENTRALIZE the mass and now they are trying to UNcentralize it by moving more mass forward? Someone at Yamaha is severely overthinking the situation, and probably getting paid a shitload.

They have to make the muffler at least a certain length to meet sound regulations. If they moved the muffler further forward, they would start running into issues with 1) the muffler canister hitting the narrow area between the subframe and shock and 2) having to put a bend into the muffler which I believe is less efficient.

Yamaha has a small bore 2 stroke that comes close at 197lbs and 3rd gear doesn't explode resulting in wrecked engine cases.

I was joking with a couple of the younger members of the JGR crew about the oddity of Petty blue being used on a JGR rider, but I'm not sure they got it.
