Wonder if they thought of running it in front of the frame spar to try throw some weight forward on that thing? Maybe use the space left behind there to make the electrics more accessible...
It sticks out a mile in the you-can't-make-everyone-happy, Yamaha-hater, and you-can't-buy-one-anyway section of it.Highsider wrote: still sticks out a mile!!!!
Where does it stick out a mile? Muffler? it's as short as my stubby '09.
I looked the pics over and over...please explain to a dummy!
He'll be back...but on a Yoshimura Suzuki.watson wrote: Bubba come back!
Past the number plate... Seems like going that far around the engine it could be brought forward a bit...Crush wrote: Like I said on the photo, I kinda would have expected with it going all the way round the engine they could pull the pipe in a little more, still sticks out a mile!!!!

In that pic he's running the normal tornado set up, not the new wrap around arrangement. The muffler is brought in further than in that photo, thats at the "original" tornado muffler lengthCrush wrote: Past the number plate... Guy you need to stop picking people's posts... what we're not allowed to comment on something?!
The one in that photo is not the new one. That photo is for comarison to the other one.Crush wrote: Like I said on the photo, I kinda would have expected with it going all the way round the engine they could pull the pipe in a little more, still sticks out a mile!!!!

A little off topic but I'm digging that One Industries Color comboCrush wrote: Like I said on the photo, I kinda would have expected with it going all the way round the engine they could pull the pipe in a little more, still sticks out a mile!!!!

If I had me one of them I'd be showing it off right now too.newmann wrote: It's apparently a new design from Yamaha
They are coming to grips that it was a flawed design? Wrapping it all the way around the watercooled cylinder is going to help? Get back to me when it hit 196 lbs. wet/no fuel and the exhaust tucks in properly.![]()
and now they are trying to move the exhaust forward, makes sense...newmann wrote: Too much mass. Had to centralize it!!
The new Honda 450 puzzles me. Bike mfgs are always trying to balance the bikes yet they take two pounds off with air forks up front and add four(?) out back with dual exhaust?? Waiting on MXA to tell us how this affects the pitch, roll and yaw....

They have to make the muffler at least a certain length to meet sound regulations. If they moved the muffler further forward, they would start running into issues with 1) the muffler canister hitting the narrow area between the subframe and shock and 2) having to put a bend into the muffler which I believe is less efficient.Crush wrote: Like I said on the photo, I kinda would have expected with it going all the way round the engine they could pull the pipe in a little more, still sticks out a mile!!!!

Yamaha has a small bore 2 stroke that comes close at 197lbs and 3rd gear doesn't explode resulting in wrecked engine cases.newmann wrote: It's apparently a new design from Yamaha

I was joking with a couple of the younger members of the JGR crew about the oddity of Petty blue being used on a JGR rider, but I'm not sure they got it.tbanks wrote: A little off topic but I'm digging that One Industries Color combo
Sorry I think the bike is great though we own 2. If this is affordable looks really coolMyke wrote: Are people even buying these Yamahas anymore?
