Picked up an 09 YZ250 late last summer and starting my build on it. This bike was previously owned by Broc Hepler.

I did the 15 plastic conversion on it already. Going with the theme of Emig's US Open bike.

Starting off with this:

Got it down to this last week. Acid washed, and scotchbrited the frame:

Had the skid plate tabs welded to the frame to make it easier to pop on and off for cleaning. Also had all of the welds checked on the frame:

Picked up a used set of gold on gold talon hubs laced to excels with bull dog spokes:

These pegs came on the bike, they are stupid light and appear to be custom machined. Over a .5" wider than the IMS I had for the build, factory Yamaha?

Some light speed carbon items:

Motostuff 280mm ran to a crf master cylinder and braided line.

Had Primal MX make me up a custom set of graphics, here's a little teaser:

Having the engine built by DH1 mods, same company that helped stankdog out on the 125 this summer. Having the fork tubes swapped back to stock to match the original a little better. Just need to pick up a set of clamps for it and I'll be good to go.

Stick around, hoping to have it wrapped up mid to late January.

Very very cool. I love new style bikes with a retro theme, huge fan of that.

Only question... Platinum pipe or factory?

This is going to be mint! Bike looks trick to start with!
Yep it already had a ton of stuff on it to start with. GYTR, hammerhead, braking rear rotor, Barnett basket, FMF pipe and silencer. I rode it 6-8 times this fall, had it revalved and resprung, then tore it down. Bikes in pretty damn good shape, just needed a good cleaning.

Anyone running a different offset of clamps on these newer YZ's. Thinking of going with Applied's 24mm (stock is 25), Can get for just under 300. Ride engineering is a little too pricey for me at almost double the cost.

Factory. it was on the bike, I dig the look. It'll be beat to shit by the end of next season anyways, maybe I'll swap one then.

Still have my eye out for a DEP.

Awesome. Factory pipes, to me, look 100x better than chrome or platinum.

Bike looks like it has a good start. I am interested in seeing how the gold rims look. I am guessing really great.

I dig my fmf factory fatty

Worked out great. I even had a number plate and fork guards that I didn't think I had. Glad it's god good use. Bike will be sick. I like what you did with the skidder!

Thanks. Guy that did the welding is Alum Metal Tab in Brooklyn right off of 176. Had him fix the lower exhaust mount for me too. Laid out some damn good welds.

Once it get it stuck together you need to head west so we can ride ram jam

Premix, DEP pipes aren't hard to find.

http://www.deppipesusa.com/ I ordered one from there a couple years ago, they are legit.

DEP is running a huge sale right now to clear out his inventory for 2016 stuff. I want to say two-banger stuff is 20% off.

Not a challenge to duplicate the engine and suspension. Emig speaks of the bike in podcast with PulpMX. Highly recommend listening to it.

- Engine was done by Varner
- Suspension was done by Enzo

Bitchen bike with amazing history.

Very cool build. Always liked that story of how Emig turned it around, put together a great privateer effort and came back to winning on that bike. Always one of my favorite riders

There are so many Emig builds going on around here. This is awesome. I can't wait to see the finished bike. I'll just keep collecting 97 kx250 parts in the mean time.

Mounted up the shroud and gas tank graphics this morning. Turned out great. I gave Primal MX a shot this time for the graphics and they 100% met my expectations with this.
