Odds are very good that Tomac will end today as the 2017 champ, after having been completely outridden the last few weeks by Musquin. And now to top it off he could be completely destroyed on the track by Herlings, a guy on a vacation with a borrowed bike. I really wanted 25 to win the title but I feel bad for Tomac. But of course, Monday morning the check will still have a bunch of zeros on it.

Love it ,i'm the exact opposite of a moosecan fan .

Whoever goes fastest the most consistently wins the title. Points reflect that...the drama is fun for some, but numbers don't lie.

I am a musquin fan personally, but his injury did him in this year. It isn't over until it's over, though.

I'm a MM25 fan, but come on man. ET3 is going to win a we deserved title today and be the happiest guy at the track at the end of the day.

Why feel bad? Eli is about to win is first 450 title and no problems managing this one.

Absolutely, if Tomac has one more point, or even a tie that he wins he absolutely deserves it. I'm not an *er at all. I just think the prestige of an AMA outdoor title may take a big hit today.

Hell bro look on the bright side. He could stomp both moto's and get the championship.

Depends on how much risk he is willing to take for his ego. I know I would for sure be going for the championship in moto 1 and then ego boost moto 2.

Pumped for Tomac and Herlings

So Marvin had a not so stellar first half of the season and a solid finish, that is more legit then Tomac having a strong first half and not so strong second half? That makes Tomac's title have a lesser value?

Still a week before the USGP, could "injuries" pop up in the AMA start list? Not only Herlings but Antonio, Gajser, Febvre, Desalle and all the big boys will be there.

Did you guys feel the same way about Dungey's SX title this year? Tomac won a bunch more races than Dungey and lost the championship due to a few bad races (with various reasons behind them).

It would have been nice had Tomac stamped it with a 1-1, but at the end of the day the #1 plate is his and he completely earned it. Congrats Eli!!!

I dont see where Randy was way off base here. Tomac won the championship and it was well deserved. Herlings made everyone look slow yesterday........

Why feel bad for the guy, he rode with the championship in mind, everyone knew it including Herlings, the same way as TC222 will likely do atthe usgp. Ego and reckless riding doesn't win championships.
I'll add I don't think tomac would have had anything for Herlings anyway, but that's called speculation

The worst was when Musquin's fucking bike broke at Ironman a couple years ago. That was my first race and was really looking forward to watching them battle and then that happened.

Actually, he only did that in the second moto after wadding it up in Moto 1 due to ego - his words, not mine. Post race interview is up on RacerX, Eli tells it like it is.

I'm happy for Eli, but my god the kid is a headcase. Makes us appreciate the Dungey's, and RV's all that much more.

I don't know about worst ever but Herlings showing up to race kind of became the focus of the weekend even before the 1st practice happened . It was kind of like , oh yeah by the way there's a championship to be decided this weekend. That's my perception of it anyway.

Huh? English please, Vegas? I wanted Dungey to win and he did.

I've said many times that I'm not a Tomac fan, no particular reason. I don't hate him but this is a MX board, these guys get paid big money. It comes with the check. He has the talent to dominate but doesn't posses the mental toughness. Which is odd since he more than almost anyone has been groomed for this job his whole life. He won the title, no asterisk from me.

It should not have been easy this year for Tomac, losing the title of Supercross and managing points in Motocross for finally in the last moto of the last race to obtain the title. I hope that next year does not have so much pressure thanks to this title obtained.
The championship always wins the one with the most points, that's all.

I don't know that anyone prior to yesterday really knew that. Guys in Europe were confident in their side but until you see a display like that it's just speculation. Losing the MXoN so many times in a row was just a circumstance of some bad luck combined with what appeared to be an evening of the field. RV struggling was written off to him pretty much being over it, just running out the clock. Yesterday Herlings left no doubt that the GPs are again the premier motocross series.

Both interviews he started with his signature cockiness and then pulled it right back in, that was a good move. Any more and he would have lost a ton of fans that he just made.
