I was very surprised at how fast he was after being off so long. I know the kid has skills. Just thought it would've taken more time for him to be up there. He was right there, a little sketchy a few times, but there for sure. Too bad he didn't get time to settle in.

Excited for him to come back swinging.

Hope he comes back again. Not sure if Millsaps has been off longer or not but he's had big runs too, it can be done and we all love watching Deano ride!

It seems like the wreck wasn't even a big deal, just slide out in a turn. Is that what happened?

Thats a huge bummer. Was looking forward to seeing Deano out there injury free for a season. Hopefully he keeps his head straight and knows that he can cone back from this one. Hooefully he gets a shot with a good team too next yr cause ktm may just go with a 2 man team next yr. Maybe a bto ktm ride or something of that nature with a little less pressure would do him good for a yr to build on. Hes got the skills thats for sure. Bummer

Dean Wilson Injury Update

MURRIETA, Calif. – Red Bull KTM Factory rider Dean Wilson suffered a crash during practice at the Anaheim Supercross last weekend that resulted in an injured knee that will take him out of the remainder of the 450 Supercross season.

After further evaluation, the doctors have confirmed that Wilson had a torn ACL and badly bruised MCL and meniscus. Wilson flew to Belguim earlier this week to have surgery today. In recovery, Wilson reported that the surgery was successful and he is doing well.

The entire Red Bull KTM Factory Team wishes him a speedy recovery.

Anyone know if it was the knee he just rehabed from an acl reconstruction, or the other one? Was he a knee brace wearer?

There's a lot of guys that ride and race with no ACL
Don't know y every time they damage one they take off a year to fix it. Maybe just milking the system

Every case is different. Some guys are ok with a torn ACL, some not.

Dean is definitely not milking the system. Dude was working really hard to prove himself on a contract year. Hopefully he gets all fixed up and strong.

Every injury is different. I've mentioned before in another thread that there is no way I could put any weight on my blown knee. Not only did it hurt like a bitch, but it also folded at any attempt to walk...

If you had ever suffered a bone-to-bone hit because your knee joint dislocates for a millisecond, you'd be singing a different tune, I promise you. I have and it is the worst pain I have ever felt besides tearing it in the first place.

I really hope that he can get Shorts place on BTO next year if the Factory team doesn't do another year with him.

Agreed.

Sadly though (being my Countryman) i think this is it. I've given Deano a hard time r.e this lately but i am right, KTM want a good second guy and sadly it hasn't happened.

It's so frustrating seeing Wilson out again, the guy has the sweetest style and could back it up (on 250s) but it's the same old case of big bikes and injuries.

He ALWAYS does GB proud at Des Nations which i love, and that heat race win two weeks ago proved that 'it' is there, but unfortunately here we are again.

I say we get Deano to GP's or British Champs. Maybe the pressure of being teammate to Dungey is playing on his mind, i don't know. After all, coming from being top dog at Pro Circuit to this! it must play on his mind. Some riders are happy to play second fiddle to teammates! Wilson is'nt that guy

Reminds me of Danny Chandler's Kawasaki Europe ride in 1986 where he was hired and told to 'HELP' Georges Jobe win the championship. Chandler declined obviously.

I'm sorry for the punctuation ridden rant, but this is how i think Dean Wilson must feel.

Sure you can ride with no ACL, but a bruised MCL and torn Meniscus? Haha you're kidding right? I've done all three but not at once.

Th meniscus might considered the least severe of the three, but is actually the most painful in most aspects.

I bucket tore my meniscus which means it folded over in top of itself and acted as door stop in the joint. My leg could be perfectly straight with zero pain. Although it was stuck perfectly straight hence the tear. If I tried to bend it or stand on it it felt like putting your hand in a vice grip and turning till you couldn't bear it anymore

Maybe a season in the GPs would do good for Dean if he can't get a good US deal?

"...if the factory team doesn't do another year with him."

Do you honestly believe that DeCoster, let alone KTM, will re-sign Wilson?

Some riders just can't catch a break. So few transition to big bikes like a duck to water, hell even RC struggled. I predicted that Baggett would fail but i was wrong, then you look at Webb who can ride anything with ease, then Josh Grant springs to mind! crazy fast at times (looka at Glen Helen 2015) but try to put it together all year, nope.

It's much like the Music industry, as soon as you under perform, your out.

Mmm duuno, if they do it will be his last chance. Another thing as seeing how they have 'given' 250 team to TLD they can concentrate on 450's so why not run 3 bikes? Maybe looking for total domination and let's face it neither Deano or Marv will be costing as much as Dungey

Wow that's bad news.

Let's hope he can finally put this behind him and have a great outdoor season.
