Will Rv and the mxgp hurt supercross

Edited Date/Time 2/16/2015 3:52pm
Let's beat a dead horse alittle more. I must admit as the races get closer I am finding myself more interested in the gp's. I know that the races won't conflict to much tv wise but my Saturday routine of watching supercross live show during the day is going to change. I wonder how much it will affect viewership. I know for most of us it's just more moto to watch. Personally if both were on my dvr I might be picking the gp to watch first.

We will have to see when the SX season starts.

I guess but I would rather goto or watch a outdoor race over a sx race anyday. The outdoors allows for so much more racing in my eyes. Sx is a big game of follow the leader.

Doesn't affect me one bit. I record both and watch them when I get back from riding. With today's TV packages....you can watch / record both.....and both get counted on the viewership tallies.

Win-win for everyone involved. There isn't a competition between them really.

the series will be over and gone....

There is no way that this sport is close to being oversaturated.

Haha... It's going to be a long year on vital with RV in the GPs.

I suppose I should have asked what u would be more excited for come Saturday if you can only watch one which would it be.

This is VitalMX -- we don't wrestle with hypotheticals around here. Cool

But seriously, I'm slightly more excited to see RV flex on some jokers.

Not with the TV package they have....different days and MXGP is tape delay with only one moto shown...for the hard core fan they will watch both.

MXGP if I had to choose only one.

Im at that point in the SX season where it all looks the same, and not really excited come the gate drop.

Allows for so much more racing? Maybe because there are twice the number of riders on the track? Wink

A big game of follow the leader? By that logic, so is any outdoor race.

If I had to watch just one it will be MXGP. More racing for a start and outdoors is better than supercross - the 250 and 450 main combined in sx is about the length of one of the four MXGP motos!

But I love supercross too. So.. I watch supercross when I wake up then get ready for the GP... perfect day!

Well the MXGP season hasn't started yet and already more people are talking about Grand Prix's than the SX race that happened 2 days ago. I don't think it will make much difference in the number of viewers for SX, because if you're a true racing fan you'll watch both. But the majority of the hype and talk seems to be surrounding the GP scene

Hurt Supercross? Absolutely not.

Big win for us moto fans? For Sure.

Not sure how the timing works for you guys in America, but here in Aus late Satruday night, very early Sunday morning we can stream / watch live timing of GP qualifying, Sunday morning Watch Supercrosslive for SX practice and Qual, then Sunday head out for a ride for a few hours or the day, then watch SX live or on replay and on the really good weeks watch the live stream of the Aussie MX in 2015.

Then Sunday night early Monday morning kick back and watch the GP's while flicking between MotoGP or WSBK.

Life for the moto fan has never been so sweet.

If RV wasn't there, people would still be talking about GPs, just that it would about 15% of the guys that are now Jiff

I am more interested in the MXGPs right now but only because of RV. After a few weeks of him running over the competition it will not be as interesting.

Absolutely. I was looking forward to this being the most stacked and exciting GP ever well before I knew RV was coming over for sure. RV choosing to race GP's is just the icing on the cake, and it draws in the attention of the whole world

Can we just make the new answer to any RV/AC/MXGP/USvsEU related thread: "just wait till 28th feb"... and end the thread?

The MXGPs will not hurt Supercross. RV going to the MXGPs is only going to help moto - more press Internationally and far more excitement coming from the US. This is a great time in Moto - the MXGPs, SX, MX are extremely competitive, dramatic, and mysterious. Who is going to win next week in ATL? Will KROC be able to keep his intensity all year long? Will Reed win a race? How will Villopoto adapt? Can he compete out of his comfort zone? just to name a few. Even the Canadian MX series is viable. Great time in moto..... I say enjoy it all. Why do you have to pick one over the other?
