Just curious what ya'll think about why we can't seem to get more "outside the sport" big corporate sponsors??
JGR seems to be the only guy knocking down some and that really isn't even all that great as they need several to make it go.
Obviously guys like wheaties, which is just a small portion of food giant General mills sees valu............why no Snickers, M & M's ???
Seems like we have the younger demographic that NASCAR is desperately seeking and gets support. And I really don't buy the amount of logo coverage space issue..........everyone knows its RED BULL KTM, MONSTER KAWASAKI/PC, GEICO HONDA, etc, etc
Just seems so odd that TV has grown, more mainstream attention........I mean Dungey has Target, Toyota is activating the JGR connection a lot............whats it gonna take???

I know I am old here, but I miss the days of real factory teams (purely speaking from a visual perspective).
On how it should be done John Slater's Blue Buffalo effort is a great story and one that continues to unfold. Can't wait to see what the next three years bring especially now that Larry Brooks is Team Manager.

These are just off the top of my head. Not bad considering the relative size of our sport.
Sucks so badly that the series promoter would do that, but they do.
GrapeApe, has a good list of outside sponsors but a lot of those are transient and we have all seen tons of big outside sponsor come and go, because they see that it has not payed off. Trust me, companies are in business to make money, and if they knew or had been proven to that they can yeild a good ROI off of MX, they would be calling us not us calling them, so to speak. Sometimes, reality sucks.
We need more IMHO more outside interest from the yet to be fans crowd. Love it or hate it that's where the growth as far as spectators will come from.
Nice!
Btw, the latest member of the Tiny Dick Club? "WFO" the James hater.

Pit Row
1) Is the emphasis shifting towards TV numbers over head count at the gate?
2) if so would this place more or less emphasis on available signage space on the motorcycle?
3) Does where the emphasis is placed affect the value of available signage space one way or the other.
Change is inevitable. A related question is how long does it take to accept change?
I believe the "Pit-Experience" is more viable than some have assumed...well...other than Carey INSISTS on letting Kenny play "MC"...WhereTF is Big B when ya need him?
The most logical demographic to target, for growth of the sport, would most likely be the NASCAR crowd. That's the train you want to rob. There are millions of potential fans out there, who love great racing of any variety, and just haven't been exposed enough to gain an appreciation for motocross. One thing for sure is that change is inevitable. I'm optimistic that SX and MX will increase in popularity with the casual fan who is typically attracted to NASCAR. The growth isn't going to come from the folks participating at the grassroots level, that's for sure.
And Target is still one of Dungey's main sponsors with a big logo still on his motorhome. Here is his whip from last year but its pretty similar if not identical to the wrap this year.
As far as Home Depot, the owner of Barn Pros was asked about the relationship in an interview. He said that Home Depot is not a sponsor and doesn't contribute to the team. It's just a store that sells whatever the Barn Pros product is.
Honestly I'd put the onus on Feld for their monster truck mentality in promoting and production of the races. Not to mention the poaching.
