Why don't we get great photo's like this nowadays? You almost feel like your stood in the middle of the track.
I dont know wether it's digital camera's, those massive lens but todays photographers seem to be lacking in the
composition, artistic skills to make a great image.
Is it because they are no longer allowed into certain areas around the track?
If you think I'm wrong, lets see the modern day Gianatsis, Morey's, Boullands and your work!
The Shop
I saw it.
I have had my "new" to me (ebay Canon 1D Mark IIN) and Sigma 70/200 2.8 (craigslist) only since last July. I have so much more to learn and wish I could download all things photography into my brain overnight. Unfortunately I've learned you can read everything but unless you shoot and shoot and shoot you won't get better, no matter what equipment you have.
I've learned a lot from looking at photographers such Erbeman (his photos every bit as beautiful as Cudby's) and several photograph forums.

My daughter shot this at GH last year, with a 35mm Minolta that I got when I was fresh out of high school.
Poetry in motion
These days with the internet you see way, way more pics than you used to. Including a lot of the tossers and stuff from shooters who may be average. That's a huge volume of stuff to sift through and it dulls the senses sometimes.
But I think there are about ten or more guys who are delivering solid stuff all the time. GuyB, Cox, Simon, Frank, Kardy, Buckley when he shoots pros, Stone, TOE when he shoots bikes, Garth, Swap, Chris Tedesco, Chris Hultner, and guys whose names don't come to mind or I haven't seen in awhile (Hal Kennedy).
Honestly, that's an okay shot at the top, but I'm not sure that's an image that I'd make classic or artsy.
It definitely shows how crappy the track conditions regularly were back then.

The more I look at this pic the crazier it looks. That jump is insane!!!
