It has been a great way to get good exercise over the last 45 years. Also while riding, I can't think of any thing else or I fall over, so it's a great stress reliever, better than any pill.

It's a part of me. Been doing it since my teens, and I'm 45 now.

It's cheap compared to other motorsports, and it motivates me to train my fitness. Mx bikes are also easy to maintain compared to cars.

Even at 40, I still play competitive team sports like hockey. They are great but the adrenaline rush I get from knowing that it's all me and I have no one to pick me up when I fail or no one to blame if it goes poorly, is something I can't get anywhere. Racing is such a unique sport in that regard and it's why I'm addicted.

For sure it's cheaper! I just started to do sportbike track days...it runs between $150 and up for one day on the track. Usually do both days so it's $300 bones before you even get there.

I work in car racing, mostly in rally, but also with track cars. That stuff is expensive. One studded rally tyre costs like 500 US dollars...

Definitely makes me appreciated how cheap it is to ride dirt bikes.

After I swing my leg over my steed.. Man I forget about everything else. Just seems to take me away from everything, stress, work etc keeps me off the drink all the guys my age piss there money away.. I spend mine on moto! Then there's the van ride to and from tracks etc there nearly as good as riding itself getting the crack with ur buddies. Plus the people u meet, all my good friends now I met through moto x.. It's all we know.., when i can't get out on my bike due to weather etc I get really grumpy.. Ask the wife she can vouch! Don't know where ad be without my dirt scoot and vital!

Best mental release there is. It challenges me mentally, and the self confidence in knowing that I rode well feels good. Hell I just love everything about dirt bikes like we all do.

Paw Paw

Right on Paw!

Same here, I've only been in better than average shape when I was riding/racing. I picked riding back up last year after 12 year sabatacle to help with stress relief from my last deployment. Really is a good outlet or therapy that you can focus on instead of the "noise" in my head from PTSD.... Especially like you say you have to block everything else out or you fall over and I'm the same situation Tongue

Started riding for fun 44 years ago and it is still a blast,I have tried many other things and riding a dirt bike just does it for me.
And as mentioned before it is a great reason to be in and stay in good physical shape and the stress release is second to none.

I still ride at 50 becouse I miss it when I don't ride. When I do ride I miss the way I used to ride. When my woman told me I was stupid for riding at my age I told HER to take a hike. I don't miss her.

Because unlike the other type of riding I've engaged in, this riding won't spend all your money behind your back, go out on your first anniversary and bang some guy, constantly bitch about everything under the sun, back way from the garage and rip the cord AND the socket out of the garage wall one week after being told to wrap it around the door mirror so you won't forget it, but be blamed for it when I'm a thousand miles away. There's a LOT more, but you get the idea.

No, this riding is all about your efforts, what you get from them, the thrill that's unequalled by anything else, and the time on the bike, that blanks out EVERYTHING else in the world. When I ride, it's a total focus on the riding. Not mortgage worries, bill payments, truck breakdowns, or skanky ex-wives. Nope, it's all about the RIDE.

It is a calling. Pure and simple.

If you've not seen it, Watch the "Why We Ride" DVD. It is good.

And it's also great that the stock bike's are so good now days. You can buy new bike for 7000 usd, and if you put another 3000 usd to it you can go and be in top 10 in GP's or any mx race in the world.
You cant say that i would be good mx racer if i just had good equipment. Everybody can have good equipment in mx... Other motorsports it's not so easy

Right there it is.

Acceleration, braking bumps, hitting a line, deep nasty ruts, hillclimbs, executing a move, etc. No other sports gives the same sensations as motorcycles do.
