Why didn't Dungey just???

Again, Dungey had the holeshot, clear track in front of him,Tomac behind him.Why didn't he just stay clear of the pack and ride away for the win? I get he only had to finish 5th or better but,wouldn't that be the smarter,safest strategy by him?

To just ride away for the win you would have to actually be faster than everyone else. Im assuming thats why he didnt do so.

Because Tomac was faster like pretty much all year.
He rode a pretty damn smart race IMO, he did everything right

First time in the history of man that a persons hindsight is not 20/20

You know he won the championship right?

If Tomac would have sprinted away and won the race he would of at least collected his win bonus. Instead he got a second, and no c-ship.

I know I was yelling at the tv for Dungey to just let him have the crumbs of one win.

But other guys were gaining, 33 included.
He had to do something.

Dungey rode behind Tomac for about 15 laps, why didnt he just put Eli on the ground and be done with him and his shenanigans?

Edit: Sarcasm alert.
Its the same reason Dunge didnt end up on the ground, neither rider was going to win the championship that way.

I after the 2nd take or attempt by Tomac I figured he Dungey would have to clean out Tomac or risk getting put on the ground himself...

I'm thinking it's a little bit Dungeys a clean racer, and a lot of being smart/safe.
He easily could have, and it wouldn't have been completely uncalled for with how Tomac was riding, but it looked like Tomac could have been significantly faster, and if he caught back up to Dungey after..

I believe Dungey would have pulled away from everyone except Tomac. Tomac was intentionally holding him up so the rest of the pack could catch them. That's why Dungey would pass Tomac and Tomac would almost immediately pass him back.

And no, I don't think Tomac did anything wrong. All is fair in a close championship battle at the last round. (except intentional injuries or a unsafe take out)
