Let the silly season begin!
Not really sure why, but I have always liked Hanny. Probably why I have been telling all my friends this year he is going to do it, just wait and see - but that is beside the point... Anyways, they got tired of me saying how he was going to make the podium and gave me a list of riders that they said he can't beat. They reasoned that if he can't beat these guys, how is he going to podium?
So I addressed their concerns...
(And yeah I know some of these guys may be on a 450 next year)
Jason Anderson - Every year at least one rider gets a healthy dose of believing in themselves and goes on a win streak. Problem is, you see those same riders lose confidence and then go on a losing streak. One word - 2014 Outdoor Nationals. Mojo going down for Anderson and like two ships going opposite directions in the night, as Hanny's Mojo goes up, they will pass each other without a blink.
Cole Seely - Just like Hanny, this guy has more natural talent than most contain in one hair follicle. I am betting Hanny matches his work ethic in 2015 and we already know Seely can podium.
Zach Osborne - Podium - crash - 10th - holeshot - crash - podium - crash - broken bones. All Hanny has to do is out last Zach and Zach will take care of the rest.
Dean Wilson - Not really sure what happened to Wilson other than Tomac sucking the life out of Wilson in one of the greatest payback moves of all time. The needle in Wilson's compass is still bent from that one. Not a real threat until he is able to find his way.
Cooper Web - He will get podiums for sure, but there are three spots on the box not one. Still room for Hanny with Web up there.
Justin Hill - Should talk to Stewart and ask him who his Doctor is. Get a prescription of Adderall and then MAKE SURE TO TURN IN YOUR PAPER WORK to let them know you are riding high. The kid needs to slow down a little to go fast. Hanny can cover his go fast and crash style for sure.
Jessy Nelson - Who? Guess he has a chance to be the guy who get's shot out of a cannon in one of the first few rounds, but SX has a way of taking the ground and slamming it in the face of guys who get under the lights for the big show. Kid is a rookie compared to the vet Hanny. Hanny's experience will trump Nelson's #holysh!tIamatA-1 jitters.
Justin Bogle - One title does not a SX specialist make. (See Jason Anderson)
Martin Davalos - Isn't he like 50 or something? He may get an award for having 2,287 career 250 SX main starts, but all Hanny has to do is follow him and NOT do what Davalos does (Crash his brains out in a simple 2nd gear flat turn for example). Hanny's riding is like flowing water to Davalos' lightning and thunder. After the flash and bang, the water keeps flowing....
Adam Cianciarulo - Just get behind AC and hold on. He will take you right to the box. Enjoy the second or third step. If your're lucky and AC crashes, take the extra points for first and thank AC for the gift
Blake Baggett - Heard he was going to sign an Outdoor only contract. Need I say more?
Jimmy Decotis - Have you ever seen Jimmy Decotis and Zach Osborne in the same room? HA! I think not! OK, maybe they are twins (definitely not identical just paternal) separated at birth. All Hanny has to do is use the same strategy for Jimmy that he uses for Zach. Done....
Jeremy Martin - Holy smokes! Dudes on fire! Glad he is going to MXdN. Did he race SX last year? Don't remember hearing his name. If he did, then he could be another Bagget phenom. If he didn't race SX last year, then this is his first year and well, um, then this is his first year. SX has a way of biting people their first year. This is NOT Hanny's first year...
Kyle Cunningham - Nice does not a podium make. Super nice guy. If he was only as consistently fast as he is consistently nice. If they come together on the track, Hanny's cynicism will trump Cunningham's geniality very time...

From above - "(And yeah I know some of these guys may be on a 450 next year)'
And yeah, you totally missed the point....
The Shop
Now that's funny....
Come on Bro. You don't really take this stuff that serious do you?
Look up lampoon and self deprecation...
They have that right?
But isn't Hanny racing the 250 class? He's practicing on a 250 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ynz4NkFIgDU
Uh, oh... If he is riding the 450 class somebody better tell him...
Hanny himself said he would like to ride 450's and that he would be kinda embarrassed to ride the 250 class, but he will take what he gets because "Beggars can't be choosers" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ynz4NkFIgDU
So who knows what class (East, West, 450's) he's riding anyways...
Just trying to make it a little fun rooting for one of the other guys....
I have never denied his talent but at this point to think he will podium in the 250 class is at least a bit of a reach. I read somewhere that he is 30 now? Not over the hill by any means, but he is getting to the age when you start to contemplate the risks associated this sport. That starts to affect the right wrist in small measure. It would be impressive if he did it for sure.
Pit Row
It is easy to get behind a rider like RV or Dungey who are pretty much a lock to be on the podium, but for me, that story is getting old. Hanny knows he is a long shot, you guys seem to know he is a long shot and I know he is a long shot, but oh what a great story we will have if he puts it together (podiums or not) to competitively race a whole series.
That is something I would like to see and picking a rider that is NOT expected to win everything only makes being a fan of the sport that much more fun
Wait - you read the stuff here. Nothing probably really surprises you...
Hanny is over, let go nobody listens to techno
He was riding awesome in 2011 before he broke his hand I believe it was. He was on the podium 4 out of the first 5 races, winning 3 of them.
Here are his results from 2011 SX:
1st
1st
5th
2nd
1st
6th
6th
13th
10th
If he can get back to doing whatever he was doing then, and get a good bike, then it is seems like it should be very possible for him to podium in 2015.
