I've always wondered why he went straight to the Factory Tent. It doesn't happen very often. The only other I can think of recently who did the same is Josh Hill. Even RC went to the PC Rig before joining the Big Rig.

Honda offered a factory 125 ride, and he told Kawi they needed to offer the same for him to remain on green.

I have no idea but I would assume his fox money was pretty good. Perhaps better off then an encompassing PC deal. Grain of salt though, cuz I really have no clue

Suzuki didn't have a Satellite Team then. Izzi went straight through as well. Reed went to YoT.

This is very open ended but as far as my knowledge goes he refused to be on a "satellite team" yes he wanted dollars but he also felt like he was the best thing "since sliced bread" so full factory support was the only thing in JS259's mind.

He was trying to be witty. He's trying to say PC isn't what everyone thinks it is, and good riders can come from any team.

Can't say that I blame him. Seemed to work pretty well.

All I know is Mitch was PISSED. For fucks sake James rode for P.C as an amature.

It's just the same as if AC would have just went factory outta amatures (if kawi still had a factory 250 program)

Kawasaki wanted James to go with PC but Big James wanted him under the factory tent, money didn't matter because he was going to get his paycheck from Kawasaki either way.

RC wamted to work with Mitch because he knew he'd get more attention, but he was paid direct from Kawasaki and had a factory bike, same with Ryan Hughes when he was with PC.

Mitch wasn't pissed at all, because he never raced for PC, he was always under a Kawi contract.

AC too, gets his check from Kawasaki, PC is Kawasakis factory team, Mitch hires a lot of riders Kawi tells him to.

Shane Bess went straight to the Factory Rig with Roger DeCoster. Unfortunately, he didn't live up to his potential...

He said that recently there hasn't been many riders who went directly to a factory team. Yes, Hill went to Yamaha. FACTORY.

The reason why he referenced PC is because Stewart was on a Kawasaki.

And the dude up there who though his comment about Reed was so smart, hey bud, Reed went to a satellite team. YOT. Remember?

Kevin Windham went straight to Yamaha after winning Rookie of the year on a Kawasaki.
There have been several riders in the 125/250f class ride for factory teams.

Not trying to be a shit head but I do remember him running pro circuit bikes in the amateur days.

I always thought Big James had a big part in him going straight to the factory team.

A lot of this aside, how crazy would it be if james stuck with kawasaki all the way through. No one could have predicted the 10 or 9-13 yamahas would not meet the criteria for james with the comfortability/performance of those given machines. I know both reasons why he left but just think for a second where he would be today if he stuck with the factory kawi. Idk

A lot of team green riders rode pc bikes, but they were still contracted with kawasaki.

Big James was the driving force to get James in the factory rig, Kawasaki wanted to put all the new 125/250f riders in the pc rig but Big James wasn't having it` .Notice the way James was the last Kawi factory 125/250f rider.

I heard an interview somewhere that Mitch was pissed about it. He thought he would be getting him and then Kawi said no that they were taking him straight to the factory truck.

Well, to be fair, he was the best thing since sliced bread on a 125.

Reynard went straight to the factory team as well. I remember meeting him at Washougal once when he was a rookie and thought he was really freaking cocky for a kid.

X2, I was reading down so I could write the same thing. James lived up to that as well. He was the only 125 under the tent and had 100% of the attention on his program by not sharing a tent with 5 other riders. I think it was a good decision that worked out. At the time, I know I was way more in "Awwww" over the factory 125 than I was the PC bikes. I'm glad he did it.

Uh. He'd been a factory Kawi rider his entire life from 60s.....they knew who they were signing.

I thought Davi went straight to the factory rig as well. He was the last true 125 factory rider that I can remember.

Yes you're right but you also have to understand that Suzuki didn't have a Satellite Team! Most of their top Amataeurs go straight to the tent.. Broc Hepler, Izzi, Pastrana, Lusk, and It can go on forever.

Kevin Windham signed with Yamaha before the introduction of YoT as Yamahas Factory Satellite team. 1997 they switched from Honda to Suzuki then to Yamaha the following year.

Paul Carpenter slipped my mind! Also Andrew Short went to Honda after riding for Motorworld around the same time Davi went to Honda as well.

The reason why I started this thread was because i was reading I believe Racer X that Mitch switched to Kawasaki after team Honda refused to sign Doug Henry to the Satellite team and took him straight to the Big Rig in 1993.
