Who is # 415 Nicholas Schmidt, he's making 450 main events.

Edited Date/Time 2/3/2014 9:59am
I saw him In the A practice at Phoenix on Sat, even though he was going pretty fast, with his 415 number he looked out of place, and I thought maybe it was a mistake that he was in the A practice. Then I saw him make it into the main via the LCQ.

I didn't see or pay attention to him in the main, to busy watching the battles up front, so I went to check the overall results on AMA Supercross, and see that he finished in 20th at Phx. and 14th in A1, and now he is in 17th in the points standings.

That's pretty good for a guy I have never heard of, it looks like he is a total privateer, what his story ?

He is with the Privateer Journey team. Naveen does his motors and he is going to be running a REC MX billet oil filter cover starting at A2!

I noticed that to and was happy for him. I told my son that ,Its cool to see a kid get that excited to win an LCQ because at that level even a LCQ is a big deal.
If I remember right I think I remember seeing him last year ride a few outdoor races and I remember seeing his name in qualifying last year. Its good to see him making it in the mains.

I watched him all last year. He was right there close to qualifying all year. Finally made the main at Vegas. He's one of those guys you just like watching on the bike. I'd bet he was 230 pounds last year but he looks to have lost a little weight this year. Glad to see it working for him this year.

It would be pretty interesting if this kid would have someone like Geico or JGR give him a ride and have someone like Aldon Baker train him for a year. I wonder how much faster he'd be?

Grew up here in Marysville, used to give the pros at our local tracks fits as an intermediate. Super nice kid, glad to see him doing well. He used to be the MXGP Assassin until that place got shut down. Wink
