I raced a fair bit as a kid.. and if I lived close to my old neighborhood... I think i would go back to it even though I am 40 now.
There are just no BMX tracks around my neck of the woods.. sucks.

My son started again just recently. He will be racing Chula Vista for GHP and possibly be a team manager next year. Been on and off BMX since he was 6, he is now 20!

We started last year and raced the Friday Night series in Nashville. My son was the novice division his first year and we had a lot of fun. Great cross training!

Normally we are riding or racing mx on weekends so we were limited to the night series.

I used to ride BMX in FL in the late 90s. Tim Ferry used to come out to the St. Pete track on weeknights and ride his cruiser.

I have a Haro pro xl. Have not been on a real bmx track in years. Spent the day at Kenan Harkins house last week and he came and hung out here yesterday. Great guy. Bmx OG big time.

I am convinced BMX is the most wholesome family sport there is. It is still affordable, is a GREAT family atmosphere, and gives kids one of the best work-outs they can possibly get. The scene at the BMX track is exactly the same now as it was in the 70s and 80s.. Even some of the same people! Like a lot of folks, I raced BMX every weekend as a kid in the 70s and 80s before transitioning to MX.

I wish my kids were interested in it Unsure

Oh yea , Guy B was a Pro at one time and Todd from Mxfiles Fame was a top BMX Team Manager too, I think it was GT.

I did back in high school. It's a great workout and help teach rhythm and control.

I still have a cruiser (24") that I go ride around the streets on and put on my "Johnny Manual" cape.

My son is currently sitting in the NAG #1 spot, hoping to keep it through Grands. He loves BMX & as said above, it's an excellent family sport. It's the one place we go that I don't need to keep an eye on him... Like a big family, everyone keeps an eye out. Hope he doesn't burn out, has allot of talent on 2 wheels.

Started in 75, raced pro from 80-85ish, owned a numberplate/apparel company from 84-89, started oldschoolbmx.com in 99 which was one of the forefathers to all the vintage bmx stuff online, did jerseys for a great number of teams from 98 to 2 or 3 years ago and hated every second of that. I have a real love hate relationship with BMX but I have a 4 year old who's loving riding tracks so I have a feeling that I'll be back at the races pretty soon. Oh, and we haven't done anything with it yet but I own half of Phantom Racewear with Donavon Long who has run the most successful amateur team for the last 10 years or so, did I mention that I hate BMX most days. And I just built a new Haro Blackout 24.Smile

Me and the wife had a factory team. It was fun but bmx is way more expensive than people think.

Used to be team manager back in the 90's and early o's and announced at bunch of the nationals and the Grands for several years. First it was Moose BMX, then Champions/Thor/Phoneline.

Team won the Grands I think in 97 or 98 in the Trophy division. Scored more points than all the Bike Shop teams and all the Factory teams except one.

Daughter Kendra Hughes was NAG 6 and Nag 8. Son Jarret Hughes was Nag 10 on cruiser and Nag 8 in the 16 year old class aroound '01. That was one of the toughest classes including Bubba Harris, Brandon Nichols, Andre Ellison, Jason Rogers off the top of my head.

Had a bunch of great riders on the team. Mostly from the Houston area, but had some from outside Texas too. Most notably was Kyle Bennett when he first turned pro. Other included Tim Kniep, Shane Vincent, Jadd Joseph, Todd Mitchell, Blake Ramsey, Amanda Ozbolt, Ryan Lasky, Jarod Leach, Bobby Hominick, Hubert Jackson, James Narramore, Chris Grose to name a few.

We had a blast, but at 17 after he turn pro, my son said, "Dad I had enough peddling, I wanna do motocross like you did". I fought it because of the escalating cost and injuries. My wife talked me into it, by saying, "who better to teach and train him and who better to get the hook up because of your industry connections". Two years later we were at Loretta's. Five years later we were back at Loretta's with my daughter.

Working on the medical side of things in MX has made it difficult for my wife to give me the green light for racing moto. BMX gets the thumbs up so we get out as much as we can. Gonna give it a few years of racing local stuff to see if we want to step it up.

I raced for a while growing up and won a few state championships, that was a fun time for sure! I think it really teaches you a lot about pushing yourself and gives you the skills to ride in close proximity to other racers. I had a pretty bad crash when I was 13 though (ruptured spleen), so I started just having fun riding freestyle on dirt jumps. I still ride all the time, just don't race anymore, however I feel like the community is very similar to the mx community. Everyone was very friendly and for the most part was there to have fun and enjoy some good racing!
