I would like to hear about peoples past and current AM national stories and results.

I personally have top tens at minni O's in 2003 in the 250B class.

I raced LL in 2002 in the school boy classes and got worked.

I race LL in 250B mod and stock in 2003. Had some top tens and some bad motos.

I also raced LL in 250 pros sport and and 4 stroke ended up hurting my knee in the first moto of the week. Did a lot of riding around lol.

But I have had some of my best memories of my life with my brother and family racing dirt bikes. We raced from the early 90s intil 2005. I miss the creek at LL and the cool air at mini o's. I will never miss ponca city ever haha. I am just curious to hear people stories about there memories and achievments racing dirtbikes at a high level. I hope it was just as awesome for you guys as it was for me. I love the sport and everything about it being family oriented. Like I said its the best memories of my life traveling the country with my brother and family!

Lets hear those stories and results!

hahahaha I forgot! Come on people tell some stories about back in the day or present racing. Pics whatever you want! This is a family sport and I know I can be the only one that feels that LL was some of the best times of your life. Well the racing was always a lil ruff for those that have raced lol. Felt like a sprinkler was misting on you when you stepped out of the motorhome down there lol. People that have never been have no idea how hard that race is

Anyone whose raced AM Nationals is VERY lucky

Even though Motocross is a cheap motorsport, its still very expensive.

Yes i invited him to tell us about it in his new forum thread! And yes we were very lucky for the support we recieved from out family and sponsors to go race like we did. We had endless support and we represented them well. I still maintain relationships with most my sponsors. Like steve ross at FC and Bevo at scott. I try to vitst them at every race I go watch!

I made it to LLs in 2009 in 250A, one of the most fun I've ever had in a single week. I got smoked, 29th oa and just about passed out after each moto from the heat but it was awesome.

Closest I made it to LL was a regional qualifier at Thunder Valley - during practice I was putting in top 5 lap times in 450B stock but ended up wadding it big and not being able to race. Broken bike, rib, concussion, and a laceration on my elbow that was down to the bone. Good times.

Hey wait just a darn minute Sondy!!

We took a family moto vacation to Loretta's 5 different times.

My daughter and I both made it our last trip a few years ago. That was a blast.

Results, well one top 5 a long time ago but we go mostly for the get away and watching the best AM racing around. If you haven't been there, you should give it a try..

Loved the AM nationals when we went. It's been awhile so I'm not sure how much or little it's changed but the entire family would have a blast.

I was lucky enough to race the World Mini one time. I believe it was 1999. I raced the 125 C stock and mod class. Qualified for the mod class and then proceeded to crash in the first turn with a kid that lived 25 mins from me up here in Washington. Side note, the late Jason Carlieta won the 125 mod main that I was in. R.I.P. 412.

Raced 125 B in '82...actually beat the Team Green "favorite" at Saddleback to get there. Todd Campbell as I recall... Dan Bentley was the Team Green machanic that dialed in my bike for me at Saddleback that day...he was actually Todd's "Mechanic" on the day; however, back then they'd help out EVERYONE on a Kawi...

I remember Tony Alessi on a "Mini" back then, too...

Classic.

I'm not sure that it was the moto related injury that had me smiling. My bet is that it was the morphine. That's some good stuff.

Went to Loretta's from '91 to '97 starting on 60s through 125s in the Schoolboy and B. Best I ever did was a 4th overall in the 85cc stock 7-11. That was the year Pastrana won the first 2 motos then knocked himself out cold during the 3rd and Johnny Marley won the title. Other notables for me were a 6th, 7th, and 10th overalls in the Schoolboy over 3 years. I won some overalls at the GNC back when it was ran at Whitney on minis and big bikes, and a few more when it turned into the Spring National.

Now that I'm financially stable and getting old I'm really considering going back in the +25 and maybe Pro Sport or something. I'd love to get back there, even though it was intense the ranch was always a blast.

Thats once race that my brother and I never went too. We couldnt afford to do all of them. We would do ponca, mini os, and lorettas then come home to new jersey as race the KROC by then we were ready for some winter snowboarding then off the florida to start all over again haha. But I would have loved to do the world mini!

I raced LL's a few times in the late 80's and early 90's. Competed in 85 (7-11) stk and mod, 85 (12-13) stk and mod, 85 (14-15) stk and mod, 125 and 250 B, and 1 year in 250 A. Best finish overall was 11th, never cracked the top 10 and seemed to always destroy an engine or 2 at some point during the week. When I was 13, I pulled the holeshot in the first mod moto and was leading Windham through lap 1... got to the start straight and my engine exploded! Only good parts left were the cases. Funny thing was KW was sitting at the finish line when I got my bike pushed over as he blew his bike up too.

Raced the Mini-O's the same years, smae classes except I also got to ride the Super Mini and Schoolboy classes. Best finish was 3rdor 4th in the TT and SX one year behind KW and Reynard. Should have won the TT but got taken out with 2 turns to go by another kid, dislocated my shoulder, got up and limped to the finish.

I raced 30+ three times at the ranch with a 15th overall when it was 30b. Went back next year when it was open 30+ and Jeff Emig and I were next to each other on the line. Not a real confidence booster..... My 6 month old bike with pitted front fender and fork guards didnt look real good next to his factory looking bike. Needless to say he was GONE in first 20 feet.

Holeshoted a 35+ moto last year I went and Keith Bowen blew by me and I fell/got passed back into twenty someting place.

No better experience for a racer. I thought I was fast till I went there.

Back then the track was crap and you had to deal with 50-60mph winds. I remember they had this double that was like 60-70ft and hitting that thing in the wind was FREAKY. I havent heard how the new facility is, but it couldnt be worse than what it was.

One thing that I know for sure... anyone who qualified for Loretta's in any big bike class could smoke me.

I never rode consistent enough to give it a shot, but I respect those that did.

You got that right. I remember my first year down there in schoolboy I though I was really fast and ended up getting smoked. I would win all over locally in 4 lap races against really fast kids from all over the north east. Well when I got there it was not a 4 lap race and the conditions I could not even explain. It hurt to race that event. I came back the next year much more prepared and was well inside the top ten in speed. I had a couple real muddy motos with some bad luck but I also ran up front most the week. Its a shame I got hurt in 2004 I was in the best shape of my life and had really good equipment. Just got hurt shit happens. Then in 05 I started training in GA at GPF and MTF and blew out my knee. To expensive and failing economy I had enough commiting to it like that.

I hit Ponca a few times. I raced LLs in 2007 I believe in 250b mod; didn't go well. I top 15nd in one moto but wadded up in the others. It was the year that Albertson was laying faster times in the B class than JLaw and RV in the A class.

My best memory at LL was seeing Jlaw fly by me. I was just getting used to the track, it was muddy and rutted as hell. I line up for a big table and Jlaw flies by me and throws the biggest whip I've ever seen. I wanted to pull off right then and there.

Yeah Jay is sick. I had the pleasure to grow up and race with him being from jersey. We used to go riding together all the time. He had this sick little track behind his race shop that we used to do tranfer jumps on all day. It was built for his mini bikes but we made some sick stuff there. He was always a really good jumper one of the best I had ever seen.
