IMO nobody will beat him this year for the title unless he gets injured, that's usually the only way he loses championships.

That said the riders who I think has the best chance of taking the crown from RV is Barcia and Tomac. Barcia has experience in the bigs now so I think he will a lot of races this year he's a absolute bulldog in SX. (Already straight up beat RV in a race). Tomac has been Consistently setting the fastest times in both classes on a 250 so I think he'll have no problem doing that on a 450.

Is it January yet?

What do you guys think, who will take RVs crown?

How can you have followed the sport at all and claim this is the logic result.

I think if Stewy has his bike dialed in ,he has a shot at him. I think if anyone can turn up the heat on RV and push him he will crack. Its happened many times before.
I just hope they all stay healthy and put in some good racing. I would like to see James get another title though.

Dungey. People will discount him but he's the fastest and most consistent besides Villopoto and I don't think 2014 will be any different. Stewart will challenge for wins but I don't see the consistency.

It's not unusual for a 250 rider to set the fastest lap times so that doesn't say anything really interesting.

Stewart, Dungey and if Roczen can start the season off consistent I have my money on him. Out of those 3, Stewart's probably the only one that will run it in and bang bars with RV.

I agree with Dungey. I think he's tired of being beat for the last two years. He just doesn't know how to give it up. He's got to be at a tilting point eventually where he gets aggressive. And when he does, I don't think RV will know what to do since that's just not Dungey's MO.

My hope is that Tomac will show us something he hasn't shown in the MEC and other 450 races he's ran.

I haven't seen anything on Ryno since his bad getoff. How is he doing and is Tomac still with him?

No one in 2014. By 2015 maybe Tomac or Barcia.

Dungey maybe if he wants to get aggressive . Stewart winning would satisfy me the most and ive always thought tomac will be next champion if he can get consistent good starts

if Bubba is healthy he will be the guy. So much raw speed and he's battle tested.

I agree that it'll either be Stewart or RV himself. Stewart is probably the only one out there (besides Reed) that isn't totally psyched by Villopoto, and doesn't have a problem running it in on him and pressuring him into a mistake...which is where the RV part comes in. RV isn't used to being pressured, and he doesn't respond well to it. When RV cracks, he usually goes to the Asterisk truck...

He's been fast enough to be the second banana. But...Dungey has always been unable to man-up and be willing to clock RV for the lead. When he gets pissed enough to ride aggressively enough, we might see him contend for the title...but I don't see it happening.

He did a great job of doing just that at Minneapolis this past year, but having the roof blown off by fans cheering you on has a way of helping motivate.

One of the loudest crowds I've ever experienced.

It will be interesting to see where Reed is after a few rounds. I could be wrong but I don't see him challenging the top three.

Would be so cool to see JS7 and CR22 wax the field next month. Just to shit the 'experts' up.

just like Davi did last year.

Man wouldn't that be a bitch if Roczen came out and beat him? Who's ass would RV want to more, Aldon or Kenny?

i watched the RV Story of a Champion this weekend...

became an even bigger fan (not sure how that is possible)

i think he'll take number 4 in a row in just as dominating fashion as number 3 last year. i'm saying 10+ wins this season

If RV stays off the ground......I really don't see anyone beating him for a title in either SX or MX.

There are nights when a guy or two can run his pace......but to do it week after week.....is a totally different story.

Right now.....if we are talking about titles ( and not just race wins )........I don't see anyone beating RV.

It basically boils down to " If RV makes a mistake" type thing.

Ryan Dungey will NEVER win a title in a healthy field. Nor will he ever straight up challenge RV for a title in a healthy field. With that said the only person that has a chance of stopping RV is whoever is in second when he crashes out of the series. Im a stewart fan also he just isnt consistent enough at that speed to do it. If he was willing to get second every week and pray for the few RV crashes he might have a chance but going at it pinned he wont pull it out.
