I just got a cr 250 and its the first dirtbike i have owned. I have rode quads, know how to work a clutch and all that happy shit but im having some trouble with the TWIST THROTTLE. I get whisky throttle bad after even tiny jumps. I could really use some tips to help with that. Also this is my first 2 stroke so any tips for that would be great too. thanks

Seat time will cure your problem. You get used to it.

There is an aftermarket throttle that has inserts to make it not so touchy.

Buy one of those tequila throttles, much more fun than whiskey throttle.

get more forward on the bike. It will keep you from twisting the throttle as the G's pull your body back.

And forget that there is a seat on that bike.
Stand up and forward you'll be able to control it much better.

and practice on some of the freakin awesome fire roads up there in the Pinenuts so you're used to the bike before you hit any "sweet jumps".

ten fo, blast those fire road in the pinenuts for a start!! Used to live up there and had rides to Mammoth w/the boys, lotta fun. Had tracks out in the Ranchos (end of Tillman Lane) before there were any houses, used to moto every day. Great riding end of Johnson Lane, follow the river up to Virginia City but watch out for the guys behind you going in and out of the creek, takes awhile to dry off!! Had the RMX press intro long time ago down by Lake Topaz, great riding after it rains.

Support the sport and switch to the Jaeger throttle.

Check your bar position. make sure they are very far forward and keep your elbows up. Grip tape on the frame and staying forward help also.

The best thing to do is hold on AS TIGHT AS YOU CAN.

Keep your wrist locked at all times. The throttle movement should come from rotating your shoulder and dipping your elbow.

If you're trying to go faster you elbow should, in theory, be dipped lower.

Hope this helps.

Grip with your legs and use your abs dont put wait on the bars with your arms

When you keep your wrist locked you have a lot more control over the throttle. What's stronger your wrist or your shoulder? It's your shoulder. That's why all throttle movement involves a fluid movement of your entire arm.
