Anderson

The pros that are wearing them are the ones getting paid enough to put up with it.

As you mentioned, RV and Weimer (Atlas), Barcia (Alpinestars), and Tickle (Leatt).

This is just a quick peek through last week's riders, and a couple from memory. Add to that...

Leatt: Musquin, Anderson, Tedder, Chisholm, Canard

Atlas: Ingalls

Alpinestars: Goerke

Really?

How much are Ingalls and Tedder getting to put up with it?

It is kind of weird that all of these guys have jumped off the neck brace bandwagon, but its also been a longtime since we've seen a serious neck injury.

The follow up question should be is who wore them and currently is not...........and why?

Seems Chad Reed has not slowed down since he took his off.

I had a leatt, I sold it though because I could not get comfortable with it on...

I rode this weekend with my brand new free from Vital Atlas neckbrace. I had never worn one before and after the first ride, I did not notice it. I finished a practice round, returned to my truck and forgot I had it on. Thanks GuyB.

Whatever. We've all got to make the personal choice of what protective gear to wear. I won't base my decisions on what the pro's are wearing, I'll continue to wear my neck brace and my chest pro. For me, it just doesn't make good sense to do otherwise.

Definitely only wear them to get extra $$. I'm sure some prefer to wear it for the "safety" reasons as well, but not a lot.

I love my Atlas as well!

I did the same thing last weekend completely forgot I had it on until I changed at the end of the day and it never bothers me!

I think Tedesco was one of the first to stop wearing a neck brace. Then Reed stopped wearing one. Dungey quit wearing one when he went to KTM.

bp.... most pros wear a chest protector or roost protector under his jersey. Very few wear them outside their jersey - can only think of Hahn who does.

Really, you guys think they only wear them to get paid? Huh While I'm sure that is part of it, I doubt RV or any of those guys wear them only for that. I would assume that the added protection is probably a very good reason they wear it, and at their speeds I honestly don't understand why most of them choose not to wear one. It's a personal choice, I but I won't get on a bike without one now. Does anyone have proof that they only wear it for money, because I have a very, very hard time believing that.

Was interesting what Mitch Payton had to say about neck braces on one of the Pulp shows, he seemed to say a lot without actually saying anything, but one thing I did get from what he said was that he was not very impressed with the Pros that were getting paid to wear them.

On one hand I agree with Mitch but what is the workaround? The company has to advertise and the riders need the sponsorship. I don't know how you get around that.

Don't need proof, just a brain between your ears. RV is the no.1 and to get the no. 1 to use your products, It's going to cost major$$$$$.
Do really think he wares them just for protection or his bank account?????

It's crazy how the whole neck brace thing is coming across as a fad now a days. I really wish that there was a way to prevent shit from happening to riders like they do. It's brutal: on one end I think a neck brace would have helped in a case like Jimmy Button's crash (if he was properly fitted, and was comfortable riding with one).
On the other I feel like some of the riders that have suffered catastrophic injuries while wearing one may have possibly not had it as bad as if they were not wearing one???? I'm not really sure honestly, because I've never rode with one, and honestly I'm scared to cause I have a big ass neck and I'm afraid the brace is gonna act as a fulcrum and snap my twig ass neck.

I still love my Leatt. Had it on for a bad crash where I got t-boned and flew about 15 feet before going headfirst into the dirt. My neck was fine but the force of me hitting the ground was enough to cause compression fractures in my T5, T6, and T7. I wonder what would have happend if i hadn't had my Leatt on...
