I haven't heard about a press release (doesn't mean it hasn't been announced) but there was some talk of it possibly being brought in to race at about this time.

2018 media unveiling is the end of this week and I think info will be fully released early next week.

Why? 250c's are incredibly easy to start and let alone just kick over plus they're not super energy sapping if they become a little difficult in starting them like a 450 would my guess is you won't see electric start and any 254 stroke for another reason and that has to do with weight in the class of the 254 stroke weight and horse part away llllllkkn

Red/grey . Thanks for pointing that out fullysicmate, I am color blind. Electric start on off road bikes is what I am looking for. Could care less about a 2 stroke mx bike.

most off road races are dead engine start so the button is better than a holeshot device

I recently talked to a dealer who was picking up Yamaha to their line up. They were told there would be some HUGE update for 2018, but he was just speculating it may be electric start on the thumpers. We were hoping it would be a two stroke update. I don't know if e-start constitutes a HUGE update? But my curiosity is peaked.

I've heard rumors of an all new YZ125 and new YZ250 with new engine, some chassis updates.
