I seem to remember not too long ago that most people had nothing good to say about Yamahas, but now I see them being praised almost every time they get brought up. What happened?

I bought one because of cost and after I rode it I thought.....damn yeah they're ugly but this thing really works well.

Why? Do you have extra hate that needs venting?

Yea, I kind of wondered the same thing. It still has the rear canted engine which was suppose to be the bane of existence. What happened?

I hated the bike after I rode a 2010 and a 2011. I think maybe they're an acquired taste, because I only spent a couple laps on them. They seemed like pigs to me. The redesigned 14 does seem to be getting more praise from people. I think the hate was directed toward 10-13, and either the 14 made people forget, or people got tired of beating a dead horse. A lot of people really loved them though. I haven't ridden a 14. Maybe I wouldn't like it either.

They didn't just "seem" like pigs, they were pigs!

I still hate on them. Still the most uncomfortable/awkward feeling machines out there. But, that is all based on my opinion.

Why does it matter what other people say or think? Ride 'em all and pick which one you feel most comfortable on.

they have one podium in the 450's, and 2 in the 250's, can;t say the new bikes have helped the results to much,

If they would just re-design the dang Front fender!

I have a 2010 YZ 450 mothballed in the garage. I currently ride a '12 KX450. I took the YZ out the other day, and after a few laps, I could not tell the difference. I had a huge blast while doing it too!!!

They spent some bucks and revised the 450 frame and bodywork, it reduced the front end twitch and vagueness by probably 50%. Still has a chunky airbox but is more predictable to ride. Great motor and suspension as always.

250F is all new, same design philosophy of the 450 but any strange handling traits are mostly erased. It rips.

They are getting there.

the 14 is way different feeling than the 10-13 and works much better. They still do have some quirks like the front end push if you aren't WAY forward on it but it is a hell of a bike out of the box. The stock motor rips to say the least.

I'm waiting for them to turn the bike around to match what they did with the motor.

Stewart has had three crashes this season. That`s the least amount of crashes out of top 10.

Yes but look at the JGR riders, Grant who is never in shape and fragile and crashes more than Ezra Lusk ever did and Brayton but Brayton will at least ride until he has several broken bones. Stewart won more on the Yamaha than he did his first two years on the Suzuki and he still crashes, problem wasn't the Yamaha the problem was Stewart.

That`s what you want to believe. Multiple pro`s say otherwise but you wouldn`t listen to them cause that does not support your agenda.

2014 250 is killer. At least for an amateur like me.

I really like the new yams...apart from the fuel cap vent hose, it's so un-finished!

I know it's a stupid little thing but it really bugs me!!

Early 2000s when people realized the hondas eat valves, suzuki/kawasaki 250fs were JUNK and ktms were a novelty bike.

I would say that it was probably more of him doing Bubba's World and Supercross season only, then the bike.
