Remembering back to the national's a few years ago , Paul Carpenter from Ithaca New York having some great break out rides at tracks like Washougal etc. in the 450 class and also in 2008 Supercross season, winning the CE Altman award.

Whatever happened to him, he just seemed to disappear as quickly as he surfaced ? Did he get injured?

Any news on what he's doing now?

I do believe Paul is living down in Texas running equipment for a living at this point. Things might have changed, but thats what he was up to last time I knew. He was always a cool, down to earth kind of guy.

I took Ivan Tedesco to race the Dortmund SX in Germany, think it was two years ago, and Paul went as his mechanic (they are best friends and work well together) and Paul said he was working for an equipment company in the NE full time

Good guy, super nice and just a generally happy guy.

I used to race 125B with Paul growing up in NY. He was crazy fast at Broome Tioga and district 3. His dad was always nice and would talk to me and say nice job after the race but of course Paul would destroy me. Good times to remember anyway.

Crazy fast at Broome! He used to come down and race D6 Hurricane Hills too and shred. I was always excited to hear his name on the big stage.

But why did he stop racing? He was fast then gone.

What ever happened to him doesn't mean what is he doing now it means what made him stop racing. Did he get hurt or what?

And usually after you get the story of what happened to him you get the story of what he is doing now. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!

He won the Canadian Nationals while racing SX in the US only a handful of years ago if I remember correctly. He retired maybe 4 years ago or so.

He was something to watch here at our local wny tracks. You knew he was going to make it even on the little bikes. He would smoke most of the 80s on his kx 60 even starting after them on a split gate start. Watching him hit the big fly off at Palmyra on his 80 was pretty cool. There were A riders not jumping it.

Racers get older, injuries add up, sponsorship dries up, they retire. My guess, this is what happened. Not unusual. From what I found on the AMA website, he raced professionally for 10 years and he is 33 now. Old by MX/SX standards.

Paulie is still here in NY working as an excavator and recently had his first child. Paul was true Moto. No big motor home and tricked out bikes. Just a country boy who rode the wheels off of whatever he could get his hands on. Plus as a kid he is the only mini rider Ive ever seen to this day jump the downhill triple at Broome on his CR80 ... He did it on his way to beating Travi Pastrana in 1995 at the NYS state Chanpionship race.

Last I heard was that after he won the Canadian MX championship, he got short changed on some of the $$ he deserved, and that contributed to him leaving pro racing.

great footage man, damn! I used to double that when I was a 125C rider and it used to scare the poop out of me. It was blind and whats more impressive is the lack of run up to it. That hill before it was a little off camber and then a quick right hander to the face of that triple. I don't know how they got the drive to clear that thing. My problem was clearly lack of sack haha
