What were your favourite years of racing?

Edited Date/Time 8/9/2014 9:41am
Personally i dont think any battles of other years compared to the Stewart-Carmichael battles. I was glued to the tv watching those races, never got an adrenaline rush from watching a race since those days. I remember cheering on bubba and yelling at the tv hahaha. What were you favourite battles and or years of racing?

2007 was one of the better seasons as a whole. Stew, part time Ricky and reed was good indoors. langston eventually coming through outdoors made it an entertaining 450 season. But rv and townley going at it every weekend capped off that season for me.

The 90's for me, but I guess it probably depends on your age.

All the years from the late 70's until now. Love the sport, what else can I say. Smile

Those JS/RC battles in 2006 & 2007 were epic. At their peak, I believe that would be half tracking today's field. Stew probably had RC covered 2 times out of 3 indoors, but RC's will to win put him ahead of JS 9 times out of 10 outdoors.

Loved the RJ era as well. I started racing in 1972, so like Jock, I've loved it all along.

Right around 90-91 was pretty good. Had a very good mix of vets and young guns.
Ward, Stanton, Larocco, Bradshaw, Bayle, Keidrowski, and more that I'm not thinking of.

I thought it was pretty rad when MC came back in 98 on a YZ, battling with Lusk for the sx title - the King was back.
Also, 98/99 had IMO the coolest bikes of all time. The RC/John Dowd battle outdoors was really cool, and Henry/ Albertyne in the 250´s

Like mentioned earlier, SX 2011 was one of the best seasons of all time.

the RV townley battles were amazing- both of those guys were flying that year. Such a shame BT has had so many injury problems because he was capable of elite level pace that only a handful of guys can manage (RC, everts, RV)

for me- really enjoyed watching stewart on the 125 in his first couple of years as a pro destroying everyone on 250fs. The travis years were pretty special too (99-2000 on the 125s?)

They all have their players.

I watched Jimmy Ellis and Jim pomeroy battle on a track 5 miles from my house here in the mountains in 76,least I think it was 76.

JMB ,Stanton Bradshaw, every year seems to bring some guys to the top ,back then honda had inter team rivals that was prolly hard to keep a grip on.

The 80's did it for me. Hannah, Magoo, Bailey, Ward, Omara, Lechein, Johnson, Stanton, etc

Late 60s to late 70s. America discovers Motocross. Inter Ams....Trans Ams. It was great fun watching the the American boys learning the sport and eventually competing with, and then beating those Euro MX Gods. These were the Golden days of motocross. Great grass roots racing, . Not so much politics and hype in the sport....Just fun racing!

Everytime I line up. It's been about 4 years since I raced. I won the last race I entered so I took some time off. It's about time to get back at it. Going to do a couple harescramble sober the fall and winter to get in shape for moto next year. Freshening my bike up now.

Pro racing every season is my favorite.

basically any year that there was a 2 stroke vs 4 stroke battle. Especially the years bubba was on the two stroke versus the upcoming four strokes

Has to be the 80's. The bikes were modern enough but still two strokes, the parity of riders was great, the tracks were great. 83-92 being the prime years.

At first I'm instantly thinking RC turning pro and then James, RV/BT, but then I'm like no maybe RC/MC, no wait Bailey/RJ no wait....
So many favorites but every one had there own amazing moments.

I wish I was alive during 80's moto. That being said, moto when I was a kid was pretty badass. RC and MC on 2-strokes, a little bit of mainstream love, but not too much. 90's and 2000's punk rock went pretty well with MX. A buncha video games.

All of those factors combined with watching RC come to prominence make me miss being a kid more than anything else.

The late 1970's and early 1980's were the best to me, but closely followed by the late 1980's and 1990's.

To me the 4 stroke era is not quite as exciting. Hope that doesn't start a 2 vs 4 war LaughingUnsure

1983-1986. Supercross was fairly new and coming into its own with better bikes and lots of potential race winners (Hannah, Barnett, Bailey, Johnson, Ward, O'mara, Lechein, Glover), along with the insurgence of American dominance at the MX Des Nations. The nationals divided up quite nicely with 125, 250, and 500 classes as well. What an exciting time for American motocross.

I lost interest in 1987-1988 (it was a boring period of Johnson/Ward wins) since my favorite rider, David Bailey, was injured. But then in 1989 with the up and coming riders like Bradshaw, The Chicken, Larry Ward, MX Kied, LaRocco, and others I was interested again. I mostly cheered for Bradshaw and Big Bird during those times.
